Dear John - It seems like a very few years ago, actually it was 1966, that we served together in Delta Company, First Engineer Battalion, First Infantry Division at Lai Khe Basecamp in South Vietnam. Our tent leaked like a sieve and we suffered through the monsoon rains. The enemy was all around us and constantly reminded us they wanted us to leave. You were my rock, with your keen sense of humor and Rhode Island twang. How you managed to remain so upbeat was always a mystery to me. I am so glad that we reconnected at the Reunion at Pigeon Forge and I know in my heart you were distressed at not being able to attend the Reunion at Williamsburg.I was honored to report your status to the current officers of the First Engineer Battalion Association. In closing , I will miss you very much and greatly appreciated your sincere telephone call from the Hospice. Rest well and May God Bless You and Keep You Close.

Please accept my condolences. I learned from John a lot of things and liked him very much. Staying overnight at your home chatting with him many hours was one of my most pleasant time in my life. Am so sorry as I can't re-do it.
