Rita Schiavo Mangione of New Hope died Friday evening November 9, 2012 with her family at her side at Jefferson Hospital of the Neurosciences, Philadelphia. She was 78.
Born in Philadelphia Rita was the beloved wife of 59 years to Pasquale J. Mangione, Jr., and the daughter of the late William and Mary (Siravo) Schiavo.
Rita was born and raised in South Philadelphia, was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School, class of 1952. Rita was a resident of Holland for over 25 years before moving to Buckingham Springs in 1995. She was a consummate wife, mother and homemaker, who took extra special care in making sure her home, was a loving and happy environment for her family. After she accomplished that, Rita went to work for the County of Bucks as a clerk in the purchasing department for 8 years. She was an avid bowler who played on several church teams, and looked forward to playing bingo and other games of chance. She will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted family and her many friends.
In addition to her beloved husband, Rita is survived by her devoted children and their spouses; Pasquale J. III and his wife Kathleen, Michael A. and his wife Linda, Lisa M. LeBlanc and her husband Harvey, Rita E. Menzen and her husband Bruce, Carl W. and his wife Christine, Michelle A. Modica and her husband Michael and David C. Mangione and his wife Maria. She is also survived by her brother William Schiavo and his wife Diane, and 12 grandchildren; Angela (Josh), CJ (Danielle), Kyle, Christina, Nicholas, Tracy, PJ, Dina, Courtney, Taylor, Danielle, and Marissa and 4 great grandchildren; Cameron, Carter, Cody and Connor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings Tuesday evening November 13, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:00am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd.(at Holland Rd.)Richboro and to her Funeral Mass 11:30am at St. Bede the Venerable Church, Holland.
Interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High St. Columbus Ohio 43214
