Ruth A. Getty, of Holland, passed away on April 11, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center. She was 76.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Edmund and Mary Margush Jaconski, and the beloved wife of 27 years to Robert S. Getty, Jr., of Holland.

Ruth was a 1958 graduate of Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She spent her career in healthcare as a registered nurse, using her skills to manage the IV Team at Holy Redeemer Hospital. Ruth retired after 30 years of service.

Ruth’s love for Christ was evident daily throughout her life. Ruth raised her children in a God centered home. She was active in the Church of the Good Samaritans, Holland, PA, as a choir director for the children and adult choirs. Ruth and Bob are active members of Grace Point Church, Newtown, PA. Ruth was very active in World Missions serving in Italy and made several trips to Kyrgyzstan. She learned the culture of the Kyrgyz people and made lasting friendships serving there. Ruth made Christ a priority in her daily life and lives with Him today.

Ruth loved music and singing. In her free time, she loved to read, complete crosswords, and bird watch. Over the past years, she loved to take cruises with her husband, vacations at the beach and especially enjoyed the trips to visit family and friends in Colorado and Montana.

Although Ruth did much during her lifetime, her greatest joy was her family and friends. She loved life and had a deep faith that contributed to her unique and vibrant personality. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by her children: Tracey Histand and her husband Michael of Langhorne, PA, David Ney, and his wife Jeannie of Golden, CO, Robert Getty III, and his wife Susan of Grantham, PA, and Linda Werner of Towanda, PA; her sisters: Mary Ann Thomas of Galax, VA, and Judy Nicastro and her husband Damian of Warrington, PA; her grandchildren: Brian and Laura Histand, Joshua, Rachel, and Elena Ney, Alexander and Andrew Getty, and Jordan Werner; and her great grandson: Remington John. Ruth was preceded in death by her brother Walter Jaconski and her first husband, Walter Ney.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10:30 am until her Funeral Service at 12:30 pm on Friday, April 19 at Grace Point Church, 592 Washington Crossing Road, Newtown, PA 18940.

Burial will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
