Oliver S. Keating

April 14th, 2013

Oliver S. Keating, of Feasterville, PA, died on April 14, 2013. He was formerly of Broomall, PA.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Oliver was the beloved husband of the late Marie T. (nee McKenna) and devoted father of Robert G. Keating. He was the loving grandfather of Christina M. Abbott (Michael) and Robert G. Keating Jr. and dear great grandfather of Grace C. Abbott.

Gloria Mae Rinker (Shafer)

April 14th, 2013

Gloria Mae Rinker of Levittown died peacefully on Sunday April 14, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. She was 82.

Born in Bethlehem, PA., she was the beloved wife of Gordon L. Rinker and devoted daughter of the late Reuben and Annie Jane Schrader Shafer, and mother of the late Daniel Rinker.

Gloria was a resident of Levittown since 1956; she was a graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service at the Philadelphia office in Northeast Philadelphia for almost 20 years retiring in 1992. An active person, she loved golf and played for the Oxford Valley Ladies Golf Association. She was a league bowler for many years and also looked forward to a good game of pinochle. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing needlepoint. When her daughters were young she was a Girl Scout Troop leader. Gloria and Gordon traveled the country in their motor home and were active members of the Delaware Valley Winnies.

In addition to her beloved husband she is survived by her children; Jane Walton and her husband Richard, David Rinker and his wife Carol, and Jill Blomquist and her husband Michael. She is also survived by her sister Peggy Ann Bennett, 6 dear grandchildren; Sarah, Laura, Christopher, Kathryn, Samuel and Jonathan as well as 2 great grandchildren; Nicholas and Zachary.

Gloria’s family will receive condolences on Saturday April 20, 2013 from 6:00 pm until her Memorial Service at 7:30 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro.

Interment was held privately.

Dorothy M. Mitchell (Insinger)

April 13th, 2013

Dorothy M. Insinger Mitchell of Richboro, PA died peacefully surrounded by her loving children at Holy Redeemer Hospice, Meadowbrook, PA on Saturday, April 13, 2013. She was 91.

Dorothy was the loving wife of the late William J. Mitchell.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the 3rd oldest of the eight children of the late John and Mary Mellinger Insinger.

Dorothy was a life-long Pennsylvanian who grew up in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia and attended Germantown High School. She married William J. Mitchell on June 8, 1940, with whom she was happily married until his death in September 1987. Bill and Dot met while working at Vicks VaporRub Factory in the Hunting Park Section of Philadelphia. Dot held down the homefront with their toddler son from April 1944 until April 1946 while Bill fought in Europe during WWII with the 1251st combat engineers. After his return home, Bill joined the Philadelphia Police force and worked his way up to captain. During these years, Dorothy focused on their son, Bill, Jr. and their twin daughters, Janet and Joyce. Dot also worked as a Philadelphia Crossing Guard in the 1950’s and later she worked at Bell Telephone. She retired from Bell Telephone in 1984 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers, Jenkintown Chapter where she served as the Membership Secretary and she was also an active member of Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia for many years.

She is survived by her loving and devoted children; William J. Mitchell Jr. and his wife Patricia of Warrington, Janet M. Gottobrio and her husband Emanuel of Warminster, PA and Joyce A. Dopkin and her husband Pierce of Surf City, NJ. She is also survived by her two sisters Mary Elizabeth Casperson and Mildred Louise Rookstool and her husband Jack, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 9:00AM until her Funeral Service 10:00AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Road, (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.

Carole A. Browne (Johnson)

April 13th, 2013

Carole A. Browne, of Holland, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Chandler Hall Hospice. She was 70.

She was the beloved wife of John R. Browne for 46 years.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Russell K. and Madge L. Johnson of Oreland, PA.

Carole was a 1966 graduate of the former East Stroudsburg State Teacher College. She secured a position at Blue Bell Elementary School in Blue Bell, PA, where she taught for 10 years until the birth of her daughter Jennifer. She and her husband John have been residents of Holland for 45 years.

She was a member of the Independence Region of the National Chrysler Products Club. Carole and her husband were active off road racers on the East Coast, participating in four wheeling events for over 20 years. She was an avid supporter and pit crew of her daughter’s racing QMA and Micro Sprints.

Carole and her husband were enthusiastic collectors of Pepsi-Cola memorabilia. They had perfect attendance for 25 years at the Pepsi-Cola Collector’s Club convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was also very involved locally in two volleyball and two bowling leagues. Carole loved her family, and dedicated her life to caring for them. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband, Carole is survived by her daughter: Jennifer L. Venezia, wife of Jaime of Milford, MI; her sister: Madge Carr, wife of Richard of Hatboro; her grandchildren: J.J. and Johnny Venezia; nephews: Michael Carr, husband of Julie, Patrick Carr, husband of Kristina, and Ryan Carr, husband of Barbara; grandnieces and nephews: Katie, Madeleine, Dylan and Sean; former sister-in-law: Susan Banes Johnson; and many cousins, nieces and nephews in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New England Areas. She will also be missed by her cats, Cagney and Lacy. Carole is survived by a brother.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 12:00 p.m. until Carole’s Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.

Terence J. Rooney, age 75, died on April 13, 2013.

Terence was the beloved husband of Dolores (nee Denofa) and loving father of Terence, Kathleen Verrecchia (Gabriele), Sean (Dorean), Colleen Schaller (John), and Bridget Lottier (Jason). He is survived by the pride and joy of his life, his 9 grandchildren Terence, Courtney, Erin, Patrick, Anthony, Kailyn, Kelsey, Brita and Julia. He was the loving brother of Betty Lou Crockett, Kevin, Michael, Francis, Rosemary Kaprowicz, Bernard, Margaret Ann Verbilla and the late Gerald, Hugh, Joseph, Robert and Daniel.

Terence was a retired Philadelphia Police officer and United Air Force veteran.

Allen L. Westburg Sr.

April 12th, 2013

Allen L. Westburg Sr., a former resident of Yardley, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at Neshaminy Manor. He was 87.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II, and was proud of his service for his country.

He was a skilled mold maker, inventor, and was founder and owner of Tri-Point Machine and Tool Company. He loved barbershop singing, golfing, skiing, tennis and bowling. Allen had a deep faith and attended church every Sunday.

Allen deeply loved his family. He is survived by his wife Nancy G., his children, Susan Gresham and Allen L. Westburg Jr., his step-children, Lorraine J. Guth and Richard W. Guth, and 9 grandchildren. His daughter Linda DiDomenico pre-deceased him.

Family and friends are invited to attend Allen’s Memorial Service on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Newtown Presbyterian Church, 25 N. Chancellor Street, Newtown, PA 18940. His family will receive friends following the service.

Ruth A. Getty

April 11th, 2013

Ruth A. Getty, of Holland, passed away on April 11, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center. She was 76.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Edmund and Mary Margush Jaconski, and the beloved wife of 27 years to Robert S. Getty, Jr., of Holland.

Ruth was a 1958 graduate of Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She spent her career in healthcare as a registered nurse, using her skills to manage the IV Team at Holy Redeemer Hospital. Ruth retired after 30 years of service.

Ruth’s love for Christ was evident daily throughout her life. Ruth raised her children in a God centered home. She was active in the Church of the Good Samaritans, Holland, PA, as a choir director for the children and adult choirs. Ruth and Bob are active members of Grace Point Church, Newtown, PA. Ruth was very active in World Missions serving in Italy and made several trips to Kyrgyzstan. She learned the culture of the Kyrgyz people and made lasting friendships serving there. Ruth made Christ a priority in her daily life and lives with Him today.

Ruth loved music and singing. In her free time, she loved to read, complete crosswords, and bird watch. Over the past years, she loved to take cruises with her husband, vacations at the beach and especially enjoyed the trips to visit family and friends in Colorado and Montana.

Although Ruth did much during her lifetime, her greatest joy was her family and friends. She loved life and had a deep faith that contributed to her unique and vibrant personality. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by her children: Tracey Histand and her husband Michael of Langhorne, PA, David Ney, and his wife Jeannie of Golden, CO, Robert Getty III, and his wife Susan of Grantham, PA, and Linda Werner of Towanda, PA; her sisters: Mary Ann Thomas of Galax, VA, and Judy Nicastro and her husband Damian of Warrington, PA; her grandchildren: Brian and Laura Histand, Joshua, Rachel, and Elena Ney, Alexander and Andrew Getty, and Jordan Werner; and her great grandson: Remington John. Ruth was preceded in death by her brother Walter Jaconski and her first husband, Walter Ney.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10:30 am until her Funeral Service at 12:30 pm on Friday, April 19 at Grace Point Church, 592 Washington Crossing Road, Newtown, PA 18940.

Burial will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Veronica (Vonnie) Donovan

Vonnie Donovan passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of April 11, 2013 at Chandler Hall in Newtown, PA. She was 83 years young.

Vonnie was born to John and Marion Schairer of Syracuse, NY on January 25, 1930 but lived, loved, and worked in Bucks County for the past 47 years. At the time of her passing, she was employed by Business One Technologies in Bensalem, PA. where her primary responsibility was data entry.

Though she was well known for her talents in both the kitchen and garden, where she spent most of her time, her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many a long day was spent watching her grandchildren participating in their many sports as well as taking them on simple day trips around the area. Her Eveready Bunny-like energy was legendary among those who knew her. She was also a 40 year friend of Bill W.

She is survived by her son Kevin Donovan and his wife Leslie, of Newtown and their daughter Jessica, son David and his wife Angela, as well as her daughter Kelly Rebuck and husband Brian of Durham, NC. and her children Rebecca and Jason.

Family and friends are welcome to visit the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd (at Holland Rd), Richboro, PA. 18954 on Saturday April 20th from 1-2pm. Memorial ceremony to follow at 2pm.

Marie A. Ellmer of Pleasantville, NJ died peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 88.

She was the beloved wife of the late Albert S. Ellmer.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Anne Leimkuhler Yeager.

Mrs. Ellmer was a resident of Villa Raffaella for the past 4 years and formerly lived in Ventnor Heights for 35 years. She was a graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia, PA, Class of 1942. Mrs. Ellmer was employed for many years as a ticket pricer for the airlines located at Bader Airfield in Atlantic City. She volunteered her time at Our Lady’s Residence in Pleasantville. She enjoyed baking and her Christmas cookies were enjoyed by many people. Her Catholic faith was a very important part of her life and she was a daily Mass communicant. She will be sadly missed as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister and aunt.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sister Marie Ann Ellmer, R.S.M. of King of Prussia, PA and Kathleen E. Ratz-Kilian and her husband, Karl, of Margate, NJ. She is also survived by her brother, James Yeager of Lady Lake, FL, her grandson, David J. Kilian and his wife Courtney and two great grandsons, Benjamin D. and Adam C. Kilian.

Marie’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the sisters and staff of the Villa Raffaella Assisted Living for the tender loving care they provided.

Joseph W. Lindberger, Jr.

Joseph W. Lindberger, Jr. of Newtown died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. He was 79.

Joseph was the beloved husband of 52 years to Lorraine L. Stott Lindberger.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Katherine Rothenhofer Lindberger and brother of the late Kathryn McGrail and Marie Kelsh.

Joe was a former resident of Philadelphia before moving to Bucks County where he resided in Holland and eventually moved to Newtown in 1988. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #440 in Newtown. Joe had a distinguished career as a Sales Representative in the Metal Distribution Industry with his latest position with United Aluminum until his retirement in 1997. Shortly after his retirement, he went to work in the front office at the George School in Newtown for the last ten years. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and summers in Wildwood. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and by everyone who came to know him.

In addition to his beloved wife Lorraine, Joe is survived by his dearest daughters and their spouses, Lori and her husband Edward Blackburn of Schwenksville and Lisa and her husband Edward Cotton, Jr. of Holland. He is also survived by his six cherished grandchildren, Corp. Edward Cotton, III USMC and his wife Kilee, Joey, Johnny and Jimmy Cotton and Brandon and Chad Blackburn, and his brother Robert Lindberger.
