Walter F. Keyser passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Holy Redeemer Hospice. His family, including his loving wife of 64 years, Marian Mathias Keyser, was at his side. He was 89.

A resident of Churchville since 1955, Walter will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and warm personality, which endeared him to many. He was born in Holicong, PA to Jonathan Randall and Carolyn Mayer Keyser. After graduating from Newtown High School in 1941, he enlisted in the US Navy. For officers’ training, Walter attended Princeton University, Columbia University, and Duke University, where he played on the school’s football team. A proud veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

Before retiring in 1991, he was employed for 42 years with PECO, and was an aerial lines supervisor at the time of his retirement. Walter enjoyed trips to his family’s cabin on Lake Minisink in the Poconos. An avid bowler and Philadelphia sports fan, he was a member of Newtown Lodge No. 427 F. & A.M., VFW Post 6493, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. In his retirement, he explored his artistic talents, drawing and writing comedic verse. Above all, however, Walter valued and looked forward to the time he spent with his cherished group of family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jon Randall and Mary Kay Keyser of Churchville; granddaughter, Della Marie Keyser of Churchville; and brother, Chester Keyser of Mechanicsburg, PA. He was preceded in death by his son, Jay Walter Keyser, and sister, Dorothy Clark.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 877 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966. His family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at the address above, or to Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, 1531 Upper Stump Road, Chalfont, PA 18914.
