Elizabeth “Betty” Virginia Wyland, of Doylestown, PA died on Monday, May 20, 2013, at Neshaminy Manor. She was 92.
She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Wesley Wyland III.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen Holmes Wain and sister of the late Dorothy Grego.
Betty grew up in Pittsburgh. She spent her entire married life living in the Pittsburgh area and moved to Doylestown, PA after the passing of her beloved Sam. They were together for over 50 years. Betty came to love her new home in Doylestown and was able to see the births of her twin granddaughters and all the births of her great grandchildren. She spent the second half of her life caring for and loving her grandchildren. She was incredibly spiritual and that guided her life. Mom and Grandma will be much missed. We know that she is in the best possible home she could ever be in at this point. We can guarantee she is chatting up a storm ensuring she catches those who moved on before her up with what has happened over the last 19 years!
The last two months of her life were spent at Neshaminy Manor with new friends. She became very fond of them and was so thankful for their care and love. She said many times if she could not be at home she could not think of a better place to be than were she was.
She is survived by her children Rachelle L. and Mark H. DeHoratius of Buckingham, PA, Roy and Janet Wyland of Langhorne, PA, and Ronald and Carolyn Wyland of Westminster, MD. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Jordan DeHoratius, Elaina DeHoratius, Joelle Wyland, Kim Anderson, Ronald Wyland, Jr., Melanie Poff and 5 great-grandchildren, Zachary Gehman, Chase Anderson, Melissa Wyland, Mitchell Poff, and Carly Poff.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Chapel Service 10:00 am at the Homewood Cemetery, 1599 Dallas Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15217. Interment will follow in the cemetery where she will be buried alongside her husband.

Ethel Mae Offner LaPlaca, a resident of Ann’s Choice in Warminster, PA, formerly of Yardley, PA passed away on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2013, filled with and guided by the Holy Spirit and embraced by her loving family. She was 79 years old.
A Catholic, who devoted her life to loving Jesus and her family, Ethel Mae married the love of her life, David S. LaPlaca, almost 57 years ago. Above all else, she felt she could make a difference in the world through how she raised her 7 children. She also leaves behind 19 beloved grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She was happiest when she was with her family whether at Mass, the shore, a baseball game, or a family celebration. She also loved reading and learning.. Ethel Mae brought the family together around the piano through song and music. Her love and influence touched the lives of many friends as well.
Her children are Mary Grace LaPlaca (Andy Leece) of Lansdale, PA; Paula LaPlaca (Dan Miller) of Pipersville, PA; Peter LaPlaca (Anne Stracka) of Glastonbury, Ct; Anne LaPlaca (Patrick Joe Slattery) of Doylestown, PA; Rose Marie LaPlaca Freed (Mark) of Berwyn, PA; Cecelia LaPlaca (Marcial Garcia) of Chalfont, PA; and David J. LaPlaca (Genoveva Alfonzo) of Tiburon, CA.
Born in New Orleans, LA, and raised in St. Louis Mo., Ethel Mae was the youngest of 5. Her parents, Walter and Elsie (Manion) Offner devoted their lives to St Anthony and sold The St. Anthony Messenger Magazine as their livelihood. Her parents’ unwavering love for Jesus and the voracious appetite for knowledge inspired Ethel Mae’s faith and curious nature.
Ethel Mae graduated from Webster College in St. Louis, Mo. where she studied Music and earned her degree in Elementary Education. She taught 2nd Grade in her younger years; later she taught English as a Second Language as a volunteer through V.I.T.A. She stressed with her children the importance of education which resulted in all 7 graduating from college. ?
She passionately applied her spiritual devotion to her Charismatic Catholic groups while the family lived in Clarendon Hills, Il. and while at St. John the Evangelist Church in Lower Makefield, PA. She served as the leader of the groups for many years. Her prayers for healing helped changed the lives of many people.

Mary C. Richards, of Doylestown, passed away on May 18, 2013. She was 80.
She was the beloved wife of Otto Richards for almost 60 years. Born in Elmira, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Beatrice MacDonald Daly and sister of the late Joseph Daly, Monica Nailen and Loretta Hughes.
Mary earned her high school diploma from the Elmira Free Academy in Elmira, NY. She married Otto in 1954, and graduated in 1955 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Elmira College. Soon after, she had her first child and stayed at home to raise and care for her growing family.
In her younger years, Mary enjoyed golfing. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, and was an avid reader. Most of all, Mary enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children: William Richards, husband of Joanne of Lititz, PA, Kathryn Hinkle, wife of Delbert of Hatfield, PA, Julie Musante, wife of Thomas of Somers, NY, Anne Morris, wife of Michael of Ashland, MA, Mark Richards, husband of Lorraine of Western Springs, IL and Mary Richards of Doylestown, PA; her brother: Robert Daly of Palmyra, NY; her sister: Margaret Schornstheimer of Elmira, NY; 11 grandchildren: Mark, Adam, Brian, Kaitlin, Thomas, Grace, Matthew, Andrew, Jonathan, Erin and Michael: and her great granddaughter: Kathryn.

Grace C. Silver, 102, of Yardley, PA died Friday, May 17, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Grace was the beloved wife of the late John Clarence Silver.
Born in Morganton, North Carolina, in the community of Joy, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Fannie (Cox) Perry. Grace is survived by her daughters, Elaine S. DeTurk (late Mark) of Coatesville, PA, Barbara L. Correll (Philip) of Yardley, PA, and Elizabeth K. Kenny (James) of Emmaus, PA. She is also survived by her sister, Una Propst of Morganton, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, her nieces and nephews. Grace is predeceased by siblings Ruth Epley, J. Von Perry, Marler R. Perry, Forrest A. Perry and E. Glenn Perry.
Grace attended Appalachian State Teachers College and was a teacher prior to marrying her husband John, at which time they moved to Philadelphia, PA. They enjoyed returning to their North Carolina families often.

Brittney N. Jones of Trevose, PA died peacefully surrounded by her loving and devoted family on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. She was 24.
Born in Langhorne, Brittney was the beloved daughter of Mark D. and Lisa M. Muzyk Jones.
Brittney was a 2007 graduate of Bensalem High School. She was a beautiful young girl who grew into an amazing woman. In the early years Brittney had a passion for athletics, excelling at both softball and field hockey. Later academic excellence earned her a scholarship to Widener University, School of Business Administration. Her pioneering spirit led her to study abroad in China. She was also a member of Pi Sigma Epsilon. Brittney was a bright light in the eyes of everyone she met. She especially loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by everyone who has come to know her.
In addition to her parents Mark and Lisa, Brittney was the sister of Devon M. and Camryn D. Jones of Trevose and the late Shaun A. Jones. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents Michael and Judith Muzyk of Holland, PA, and her paternal grandparents Ted and Joan Jones of Bensalem, PA. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Albert H. Kurz, Jr. of Churchville, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Twining Manor in Holland. He was 89.
He was the beloved husband of 62 years to the late Mary E. Maxwell Kurz
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Albert H. Kurz Sr. and Marie Kaul Kurz.
Albert was a resident of Churchville for over 40 years before moving in 2007 to Twining Village in Holland. He was a graduate of Jenkintown High School Class of 1941 and a veteran of the Army Air Force during World War II.
Albert is survived by his children and their spouses, Marita Rigolizzo and her husband John of Berlin, NJ, Albert H. "Skip" Kurz, III and his wife Amy of Raleigh, NC, Richard B. Kurz and his wife Susan of York, PA and Thomas P. Kurz of Yardley. He is also survived by his 14 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.

Casey Christian Hughes, 18, of Kingwood, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.
Casey was preceded in death by his mother, Camille Hughes and grandfather, John Hughes, Sr.
He is survived by his loving father and step-mother, Brian and Kara Hughes, his sisters, Brianne Hughes and Tarah Hughes, his grandparents, Diane and Joe Barile, Richard Ricciardi and Ann, Winnie Hughes, Bill and Debbie Eilers, Lanny and Connie Strong, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Walter F. Keyser passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Holy Redeemer Hospice. His family, including his loving wife of 64 years, Marian Mathias Keyser, was at his side. He was 89.
A resident of Churchville since 1955, Walter will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and warm personality, which endeared him to many. He was born in Holicong, PA to Jonathan Randall and Carolyn Mayer Keyser. After graduating from Newtown High School in 1941, he enlisted in the US Navy. For officers’ training, Walter attended Princeton University, Columbia University, and Duke University, where he played on the school’s football team. A proud veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
Before retiring in 1991, he was employed for 42 years with PECO, and was an aerial lines supervisor at the time of his retirement. Walter enjoyed trips to his family’s cabin on Lake Minisink in the Poconos. An avid bowler and Philadelphia sports fan, he was a member of Newtown Lodge No. 427 F. & A.M., VFW Post 6493, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. In his retirement, he explored his artistic talents, drawing and writing comedic verse. Above all, however, Walter valued and looked forward to the time he spent with his cherished group of family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jon Randall and Mary Kay Keyser of Churchville; granddaughter, Della Marie Keyser of Churchville; and brother, Chester Keyser of Mechanicsburg, PA. He was preceded in death by his son, Jay Walter Keyser, and sister, Dorothy Clark.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 877 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966. His family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private.

Mary B. Cook, of Holland, passed away on May 13, 2013 at Twining Manor with her family by her side. She was 100.
She was the beloved wife of 65 years to A. Stanley Cook and daughter to the late Eric and Mary Innes Bergren.
Born in Rhode Island, Mary graduated from high school in 1929. She then obtained a secretarial degree from the Katherine Gibbs School. She was employed as an executive secretary for 12 years before joining the Woman’s Army Air Corp, where she proudly served our country during World War II. While enlisted, she served in an administrative capacity, giving troops their detail as to where they would be stationed. After returning to Rhode Island, she continued in secretarial work, and met her husband Stanley, marrying in 1948. After the birth of their children and moving to Connecticut, Mary continued to work for an insurance adjuster. Mary stayed at home for several years before returning to work at Connecticut Bank and Trust, from which she retired in 1977. After retirement, Mary and Stanley lived in Connecticut and Florida and traveled widely. In 2003, they moved to Bucks County, eventually settling in Twining Village.
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children: Dr. James H. Cook, M.D., husband of Lesley of Doylestown, and Margaret M. Cook of Long Beach, New York; and her grandchildren: Rebecca and Jacob. Mary was preceded in death by two sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.
