Elizabeth “Betty” Virginia Wyland, of Doylestown, PA died on Monday, May 20, 2013, at Neshaminy Manor. She was 92.
She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Wesley Wyland III.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen Holmes Wain and sister of the late Dorothy Grego.
Betty grew up in Pittsburgh. She spent her entire married life living in the Pittsburgh area and moved to Doylestown, PA after the passing of her beloved Sam. They were together for over 50 years. Betty came to love her new home in Doylestown and was able to see the births of her twin granddaughters and all the births of her great grandchildren. She spent the second half of her life caring for and loving her grandchildren. She was incredibly spiritual and that guided her life. Mom and Grandma will be much missed. We know that she is in the best possible home she could ever be in at this point. We can guarantee she is chatting up a storm ensuring she catches those who moved on before her up with what has happened over the last 19 years!
The last two months of her life were spent at Neshaminy Manor with new friends. She became very fond of them and was so thankful for their care and love. She said many times if she could not be at home she could not think of a better place to be than were she was.
She is survived by her children Rachelle L. and Mark H. DeHoratius of Buckingham, PA, Roy and Janet Wyland of Langhorne, PA, and Ronald and Carolyn Wyland of Westminster, MD. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Jordan DeHoratius, Elaina DeHoratius, Joelle Wyland, Kim Anderson, Ronald Wyland, Jr., Melanie Poff and 5 great-grandchildren, Zachary Gehman, Chase Anderson, Melissa Wyland, Mitchell Poff, and Carly Poff.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Chapel Service 10:00 am at the Homewood Cemetery, 1599 Dallas Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15217. Interment will follow in the cemetery where she will be buried alongside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Neshaminy Manor, 1660 Easton Road, Warrington, PA 18976.
