Joseph F. Donnelly of Holland, PA died peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2013, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. He was 79.
He was the beloved husband of Anne M. Boyle Donnelly for 50 years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John L. and Sophia A. Mroz Donnelly and brother of the late John Donnelly and Veronica Barber.
Mr. Donnelly was a 1952 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School. He began his college education at LaSalle College, which was delayed by the call to serve our country in the U.S Army. After being honorably discharged, he returned to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, graduating in 1965. He pursued his career in accounting, working for Janney Cylinder Company in Philadelphia for 35 years, and then retiring after 15 years of service from Tedeco Industrial Products in their Yeadon division. It was at Janney that Joe met his future wife, and they lived in Philadelphia before moving to Holland in 1979.
Joe was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. In his free time, Joe enjoyed golfing, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and especially enjoyed the Philadelphia teams. Although he had many hobbies and interests, Joe’s priority was his family. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter, Megan E. Grady and her husband, John, of Philadelphia; his son, Brendan J. Donnelly and his wife, Erin, of Doylestown, PA; his two sisters, Theresa McNeely and Mary Lavanga, and his two brothers, Edward and Michael Slaven. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Isabelle, Ceara, Kevin, Clare, Patrick and Fiona.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, November 21, 2013, from 9:30 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:30 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. Interment will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Villa, 110 Wissahickon Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19031.
