Gerald W. Weber, of Chalfont and formerly of Elkins Park, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Neshaminy Manor. He was 92.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Vincent and Emma Sell Weber.
During the Depression Gerry started working various jobs at a young age to support his family with two years spent in the Civilian Conservation Corps. When the United States entered WWII he tried enlisting twice and was told his eyes prohibited him from service. Ironically he was then drafted and served three years in the Army. He was very patriotic with a great love for his country.
After the war he returned home to work as a truck driver and heating service man for Philadelphia and Leheigh Oil where he stayed until his retirement.
Gerry was a history buff and an avid reader spending many hours at the library. He had a passion for classical music, enjoyed crosswords and had a love of trains and the railroad. He was a kind and gentle man, always a gentleman.
Gerald is survived by his nephews: Thomas Dolan and his wife Patricia of Doylestown, Paul Dolan of Johnstown; and his great niece: Kristen Dolan. He was predeceased by his sisters, Evelyn Ferguson and Frances Dolan.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 9:30 am until his Funeral Service at 11:00 am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901.
Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
