Barbara A. Miller of Doylestown died at home from ALS on June 10, 2018. She was 69.
Born in Philadelphia she resided in Doylestown for over 40 years and was the daughter of the late Willett and Edith Trofi Miller, and niece of the late Marie Trofi.
Barbara graduated from Gwynedd Mercy College in 1970 and earned her Master’s degree from Villanova University in 1973. She worked at Bucks County Community College from 1975-2014 serving in many roles, from director of contract services and community service to Vice President of continuing education, workforce development and public safety. While there, she was instrumental in building a strong and prosperous continuing education department, workforce development, and fire safety training programs. A testimony of Barb’s leadership was the loyalty, respect, and support of her staff which continued even after her retirement.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Robert Miller Sr. and his wife, Patricia and her best friend, Karen Dawkins, with whom she shared her life for over 40 years. She is also survived by her two nieces and their husbands, Christy Mack and Martin and Colleen Ambrosine and Matthew and her two nephews and their wives, Robert Miller and Sonnonedria and Patrick Miller and Kate and her great-nephew Matthew Ambrosine Jr. She was also a special “Aunt BA” to VJ, Samantha, and Trisha.
A devout member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Barbara served as a Eucharistic Minister, served on the Board of RENEW International and as a Chaplain at Doylestown Hospital. She also served on the Bucks County Housing Authority.
Barbara was well known for her honesty, energy, and generosity. No challenge seemed too great and if anyone needed help she was there! She spent many hours volunteering and demonstrating her comedic talents with State Street Players, a theater group of OLMC.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 9:30 AM until her Funeral Mass 12:00 PM, on Friday, June 15th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown PA 18901. Her interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
