William M. Dostal Jr. of Doylestown passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the age of 68 at Doylestown Hospital surrounded by his family.
Bill was born in Allentown, NJ, and was the son of the late William M. Dostal and the late Ethel Wolfe Dostal.
Bill grew up in Columbus, NJ. His family moved to Ringoes, NJ where he graduated from South Hunterdon Regional High School in 1967. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served on the U.S.S. Enterprise and U.S.S. Ranger from 1968 until his Honorable Discharge in 1974. In 1973 he married the former Mary McGarity. They moved to Orlando and returned to Doylestown in 1986.
For over 30 years, Bill had been a truck driver with many dedicated years at Bateman Brothers in New Britain and later PK Moyer and Sons in Franconia, PA.
Bill spent quiet moments fishing, flying Remote Control planes, racing Remote Control cars, spending time on his boat, and woodworking. But most of all, he treasured the simple moments that create lasting memories with his friends, family, and grandchildren. Through many years of cherished moments his quick wit, great sense of humor, and loving dedication will be missed by all.
Bill was the loving husband to Mary C. McGarity Dostal, they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in January. Bill gathered his strength from his family as they were his constant inspiration. He is survived by his three devoted daughters and sons- in-law; Kelly Murphy and her husband Dale of Elkins Park, Jennifer Aptacy and her husband Kyle of Hatboro, and Karen Homay and her husband Ryan of New Britain. His beautiful grandchildren, Olivia & Finnegan Murphy and Vivian Homay, provided him with a tremendous amount of pride, joy, and laughter. He is also survived by his two caring sisters Beverly Figa and her husband John, Victoria Wilson and her husband Charles, and brother Michael Dostal. Continually supporting Bill and his family is his loving mother-in-law, Geraldine McGarity as well as his dedicated brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Robert and Barbara Weise, his niece Kristina (Weise) Milan, and nephews Kevin and Matthew Weise. Holding a special place in his life and heart are his beloved friends John and Betty Jane Matthews. We know he will be remembered and missed by many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by son William M. Dostal, III and his father-in-law John McGarity.
Bill’s family will receive condolences on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E.
