Nunziata (Nancy) T. Pizzi of Langhorne, died Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Mary Medical Center with her family by her bedside. She was 92. Nancy was the beloved wife of the late John D. Pizzi Jr. Born in Raven Run, PA, Nancy was the daughter of the late Aniceto Santicerma and Angelina Mariani of Leonessa, Italy, and was predeceased by her siblings, Guerrina, Angelo, Nicolina, John, Lucy, Jennie and Joe. She attended school in Shenandoah, PA. After WW2, Nancy met her husband John when they both worked at Penn Fruit Stores. They were married June 18, 1949 at Sacred Heart Church, Phila. In 1953, they founded John’s Market in South Philadelphia where they raised their children. In 1978 they opened Family Food Markets on New Falls Road in Levittown. Later, Nancy also worked for Wood Services for 5 years and at Giant Markets for 2 years. She retired at 62 to take care of her husband and grandchildren. Nancy enjoyed music, crocheting, cooking, baking and just spending time with her family.
Nancy lived with her daughter and son-in-law for 32 years and was a faithful communicant of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland. She will be sadly missed by everyone who has come to know and admire her.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses at St. Mary’s Oncology unit, and the LIFE St. Mary’s program.
Nancy is survived by her 2 children Angelina M. Verna (Tony), and John D. Pizzi III (Doreen); her 4 loving grandchildren; Anthony M. Verna III, (Michelle), Nicole Verna, Deanna Pizzi, and Michael Pizzi, her cherished great granddaughter Amalia, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 9:00 am until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 18th at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
