Donald B. Veix, Ed.D of Bridgewater, N.J. passed into heaven on Dr. Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years young.
He was the beloved husband for 61years of Barbara Feehan Veix.
Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Joseph and Bernardine Pozdech Veix and brother of the late Doris Dreyer and Helen Lupton.
Donald met his wife Barbara at the 16th Avenue beach in Belmar, N.J. while both in college and the great adventure began. After serving in the U.S. Army, they moved to Jersey City, N.J. and he discovered his passion for teaching. He shared his love for literature at St. Michaels High School in Union City, Hillsborough Middle School, Watchung Regional High School, and Lehigh University. Dr. Veix earned his doctorate and used his vast experience to inspire future teachers as a professor of Education at Rider University. Throughout his career, he was highly respected for his wit and creativity. His innovative approach to education was ahead of his time as he incorporated art, music, theater, and history into the daily experience.
His love of military history led him to a massive 20 year project of personally interviewing soldiers from World War I and World War II. His powerful collection of never heard stories, straight from the voices of the men and women who served, is currently being documented for donation to the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Veix enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife Barbara exploring historical landmarks and museums across the United States and abroad. He enjoyed photographing many places near and far and built his own darkroom in their home. Donald was often seen with a book and pen is his hand. He also enjoyed swimming along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, sailing in his boat named for his wife, skiing downhill and cross country, playing tennis and golf, collecting models trains, and enjoying time at their beach house, The Pequod.
He was most content when with his wife, and surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and friends, sharing great stories with laughter and love. Don was a godly man who encouraged all of us to be kind and generous people, aiding strangers as we would friends. His moral compass aligned with the words of many great writers, thinkers, and leaders: "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see whole staircase." -Martin Luther King, Jr.
In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his son, Donald B. Veix Jr.,Esq. and his wife, Margaret of Pipersville, Pa.; his two daughters, Elizabeth A. MacMurray and her husband, Christopher of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Michelle V. McCartan and her husband, Brian of Buckingham, Pa. He is forever cherished by his 12 grandchildren, Joseph, William, and John Veix; Allyson, Katherine, Kenneth, Christopher, and Juliette MacMurray; Daniel, Brigid, Brian, and Keira McCartan; and his great-granddaughter, Emily Ellis.

Eleanor Mary Clayton (Fromuth)
January 13th, 2018
Eleanor Mary Fromuth Clayton passed away January 13, 2018 in Southampton, PA at the age of 96.
She was born on March 18, 1921 to Harry and Ella Leedom Fromuth in Bucks Co., PA. Eleanor was predeceased in 2007 by her husband of almost 65 years, Carlton R. Clayton.
She and Carlton had three children: Robert C. Clayton (Margo Trexler), Middleton, MD; Virginia Clayton Eastburn (George L. Eastburn, III), Pineville, PA; and Clifford T. Clayton (Nancy Zimmerman) New Providence, PA; and is additionally survived by seven grandchildren (Amanda, Marc; George, Natalie, Heather; Paul, Elizabeth); fourteen great grandchildren, and a sister, Katherine Heritage. In addition to her husband and parents, Eleanor was also predeceased by two grandsons, Bradford J. Clayton and Brian C. Eastburn; her daughter-in-law, Erma Clayton; and a brother, Harry C. Fromuth, Jr.
Eleanor and Carlton spent many years of their lives together traveling across the country. During WWII and while Carlton worked for Bechtel Corp., the couple lived in all corners of the US, and retired together in 1986 in Willow Street, PA. No matter where the two lived, square dancing, playing cards, and staying in touch with their family occupied a large amount of their time.
Upon losing Carlton, Eleanor moved to Southampton Estates in Bucks Co., became a member of North & Southampton Reformed Church once again, and lived a full, active life swimming, playing shuffleboard, getting together with family and meeting up with old friends at the retirement community. Her home was filled with all the pictures of her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and these photos obviously were the heart and soul of her home. Eleanor loved reading books on her Kindle, and kept in touch with far-off family members through Facebook and Face Time. For someone of her generation, her technological abilities were amazing!
Eleanor's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday January 21, 2018 from 1:00pm until her Funeral Service 2:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home Inc., 800 Newtown Richboro Rd. Maurice Toufic Hakim of Newtown, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. Past 96 and until nearly the end, he remained fully alert, independent, and engaged in his daily activities.
Maurice was the beloved husband of the late Linda Slim Hakim, with whom he had shared nearly 60 years of marriage before she had preceded him last February to be with the Lord.
He was born in Beirut to Toufic Jabbour Hakim and Adlette Bridi, both from Beirut, on August 11, 1921, shortly after the current borders of Lebanon were established. He was the older brother of the now-deceased Mounir and Michel Hakim.
Maurice has loving family on four continents. He is survived by his sons Toufic (partner Robyn Rajs) and Naji (wife Carine Nahas Hakim); his grandchildren Scott, Jad, Sean, and Yasmina, who endearingly called him Jeddo; his nephew James and nieces Joyce Hakim Åkesson, Rita Hakim Saadé, and Micheline Hakim Sfeir and their families; his brother-in-law Joseph Slim; and the rest of the Hakim, Bridi, Slim, Sahyoun and Said families. They will all remember him well and continue his legacy.
After more than 40 years as a manager at the Beirut Seaport, Maurice immigrated with his wife Linda to the U.S. at age 80, living in Newtown since 2000. He became enthusiastic about cooking late in his 80’s, which earned him the title of Chef Maurice deservedly. Over the last 10 years, he regularly spent extended hours on his smartphone and social media, keeping in touch with his family and friends all over the world. He was also deeply interested in developments across the Middle East and in age-old Byzantine chanting—church music he truly enjoyed and performed for decades.
Those in his presence were commonly inspired by his high morals, his strong will, and his clear sense of discipline and responsibility. Although serious and demanding, Maurice had a zest for life and family, always enjoying the company of people, young or old. Once the life of the party, he maintained a fun-loving, playful spirit. He will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Mark’s Orthodox Church, 452 Durham Road, Wrightstown, PA 18940, before the Funeral Service.
