Eleanor Mary Fromuth Clayton passed away January 13, 2018 in Southampton, PA at the age of 96.
She was born on March 18, 1921 to Harry and Ella Leedom Fromuth in Bucks Co., PA. Eleanor was predeceased in 2007 by her husband of almost 65 years, Carlton R. Clayton.
She and Carlton had three children: Robert C. Clayton (Margo Trexler), Middleton, MD; Virginia Clayton Eastburn (George L. Eastburn, III), Pineville, PA; and Clifford T. Clayton (Nancy Zimmerman) New Providence, PA; and is additionally survived by seven grandchildren (Amanda, Marc; George, Natalie, Heather; Paul, Elizabeth); fourteen great grandchildren, and a sister, Katherine Heritage. In addition to her husband and parents, Eleanor was also predeceased by two grandsons, Bradford J. Clayton and Brian C. Eastburn; her daughter-in-law, Erma Clayton; and a brother, Harry C. Fromuth, Jr.
Eleanor and Carlton spent many years of their lives together traveling across the country. During WWII and while Carlton worked for Bechtel Corp., the couple lived in all corners of the US, and retired together in 1986 in Willow Street, PA. No matter where the two lived, square dancing, playing cards, and staying in touch with their family occupied a large amount of their time.
Upon losing Carlton, Eleanor moved to Southampton Estates in Bucks Co., became a member of North & Southampton Reformed Church once again, and lived a full, active life swimming, playing shuffleboard, getting together with family and meeting up with old friends at the retirement community. Her home was filled with all the pictures of her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and these photos obviously were the heart and soul of her home. Eleanor loved reading books on her Kindle, and kept in touch with far-off family members through Facebook and Face Time. For someone of her generation, her technological abilities were amazing!
Eleanor's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday January 21, 2018 from 1:00pm until her Funeral Service 2:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home Inc., 800 Newtown Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Her interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Richboro. The Reverend Bethany Devos will conduct the services.
Eleanor and her family, in lieu of flowers, ask that contributions be made to ACTS Signature Hospice, 812 N. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, 19002.
