John R. MacDonald of Holland, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 with his loving family by his side at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  He was 55.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late James MacDonald and Dolores Sawyer.

The center of John’s world, without question was most certainly his family, especially his children and grandchildren.  He owned and operated Mac’s Janitorial which continues to operate to this day and his hard work and determination led to the success of the company and allowed him to raise his children in Holland, Bucks County, helping to provide for them a quality education and bright future.

John was an avid softball player and loved anything and everything to do with music.  He was a self taught guitar player and singer and a devoted fan of the Beatles.

John was a great lyricist and wrote a lot of his own songs.  He enjoyed playing music with his band and was known for being very easy going; the source of calm and strength for many around him. He was very simple and not into materialistic things and it brought him true happiness to give to others which he did blindly and never expected anything in return. He was a rare soul and will be dearly missed.

John is survived by his children, Nicole MacDonald-Pattison and her husband Dan, Michelle Carfagno and her husband, Joe, Stephanie MacDonald, and John MacDonald, Jr; and their mother, Marci London.  He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, Tyler, Olivia, Madeline, and Olivia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James MacDonald and his sister Joy Lynne MacDonald.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather and celebrate John’s life on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954.  Casual attire is strongly encouraged.  John's interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 100 N. 20th St., 4th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
