Lieutenant Colonel John Allen Miranda, United States Marine Corps, Retired, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 29, 2016 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 57.

John was the beloved husband of Jean A. “Jeannie” Miranda.

Born on Governors Island, NY, he was a son of the late Juan and Margaret L. Naugle Miranda.

John lovingly referred to Wilkes Barre, PA as his hometown, although he spent much of his up bringing in Cinnaminson, NJ where he graduated from Cinnaminson High School. He went on to attend Wilkes University and later earned his Master’s Degree in education from Temple University.

John served proudly with the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served both actively and as a reservist until his retirement after 23 years of service. Additionally, John led a long career as an educator, as both a teacher and coach for Riverside High School and Princeton High School. Most recently he served as an administrator for Princeton Public Schools.

For John, the sun rose and set around his family. He was a devoted partner to the love of his life and “travelling companion”, Jeannie, and an adoring father who simply couldn’t have been more proud of his three sons. He took great pride in creating a beautiful life with his family and for him being surrounded by all those he loved was all he ever needed. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his three sons, John Allen Miranda, Jr. (Catherine Rose), Nicky Miranda (Brooke Ford) and Timothy P. Miranda. He also leaves behind his brother, James Miranda (Renee LaFond) and his sister, Jeanine Loftus; sister-in-law, Nancy Andorko (Jim Andorko) and brothers-in-law Jerry Doughty (Kathy Doughty), and Mike Doughty (Angie Patti-Doughty) as well as countless nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather and greet John’s family Friday, September 2, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Service and Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901.

His interment with Military Honors will be held at a later date in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA.
