Karol “Karl” M. Talafous of Doylestown passed away following a brief illness on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Doylestown Hospital.
Karl was the beloved husband of Sheila M. Talafous. In addition to his wife, Karl is survived by his children, Laura and Amy Talafous and his grandson Dominic Talafous. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph J. Talafous, Esq. and his sister, Ann Zapple.
Born in Ventnor, NJ, he was a son of the late Karol and Anna Sulick Talafous.
Karl earned his Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Kean College. He taught for 30 years at his alma mater Lincoln High School in Jersey City, NJ. Karl was extremely proud of his Slovak Heritage and was a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol as well as a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Doylestown.
To say that Karl was multi-faceted would be an understatement. He loved everything from golf to reading to Jeopardy and Crossword puzzles. His sense of humor and generous nature was endearing to all who knew him. He loved the New York Giants, travelling, coin collecting and watching the History, Travel and Weather channels. He was also a talented vocalist and was a very proud member of the Bucks County Choral Society.
Most importantly, however, Karl was a family man. He treasured every moment spent with his family, most especially time spent with his grandson, Dominic. Karl’s charm, generosity and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him, but surely never forgotten.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 9:30 AM until his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 E. State St., Doylestown, PA 18901. His interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Doylestown Health Foundation RN Scholarship Fund; Include “In Memory of Karol M. Talafous” in the note line and mail to Doylestown Hospital, 595 West State St. Doylestown, PA 18901.
