Rose Marie Ann Fazekas (nee Char) went peacefully to eternal sleep on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Briarleaf Nursing & Convalescent home in Doylestown.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Balazs (Bo), her sister Joann Hurlock, her son Joseph, her daughter Erica, and her two granddaughters Parker Rose and Avery Joy.
Long-time resident of Penns Park, Bucks County, and native of the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, Rose Marie spent much of her life doing what she liked most: working with children. After 2 years working at the Ukrainian Orphanage, while taking night classes at St. Joe's, she relocated to the newly formed Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic School, where she taught the children and grandchildren of displaced people from World War II.
In 1971 she started a new career as a mother, raising her son and daughter Erica while managing the household until they reached high school, when she returned to the workforce doing clerical work until landing back in a job working with children at a daycare in Doylestown.
Rose Marie expressed her artistic talents through baking and making favors for the special occasions of friends and family. She was caring and generous, but stubborn, and never lost her taste for sweets.
After losing her parents in 1990, she entered a happy retirement with her husband, which included many memorable trips to Vegas, Atlantic City, and a few cruises along the eastern seaboard.
Rose Marie found new purpose and joy in life on the birth of her two granddaughters Parker Rose and Avery Joy and took great pleasure in the visits from the neighbor's grandsons.
In her final days, Rose Marie took care of her loving husband, as much as he took care of her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday, March 29, 2015 from 11:00 AM until her Funeral mass 12:00 PM in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954. Rose Marie’s interment will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Cemetery, 438 Cedar Road, Fox Chase, PA 19111.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the National Stroke Association 9707 East Easter Ln., Ste. B., Centennial, CO 80112.
