John Joseph Finnegan of Warminster and formerly of Hilltown, and New Britain, passed away suddenly on August 21, 2015.  He was 88.

John was the beloved husband of 66 years to the late Henrietta A. Plum Finnegan.

Born in Scranton, PA he was a son of the late John J. and Marguerite Davies Finnegan.

John was a graduate of Rutgers University earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.  He led a long, and successful career holding various manufacturing executive, and consultative positions, most notably with the former Nicolet Industries of Ambler, retiring from the position of President of the company.  John was a dedicated Executive Board Member, and Scoutmaster of the Bucks County Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  He was a member of the Doylestown Country Club, Loyal Order of The Moose, German Hungarian Club, and Doylestown Maennerchor for many years.  John was an avid sportsman, and loved hunting, fishing, playing golf, and being a spectator of Philadelphia sports, and world tennis in his later years.

He had recently become a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish in Hilltown, after proudly completing the R.C.I.A. Program.  John was a faithful member for nearly 40 years of ROMEO – Righteous Old Men Eating Out - Seniors Breakfast Club, which meets at the Chalfont Family Restaurant each day.  He treasured the time spent with his friends there.

It’s simply impossible to sum up the enormity of John’s personality in just a few words.  His steadfast love and devotion for his family was immeasurable, and the void he leaves behind is vast.  He touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

John is survived by his dearest children and their spouses: Jack and Susan Finnegan of Perkiomenville, Kathy and John Arzberger of Doylestown, and Colleen Finnegan Gross and her husband Bruce of Warminster.  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jon, Sean, Christopher, Gretchen, Jack, and Ella; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gomer, and William McGinty and his sisters, Ruth Griffiths, Dorothea Stevens, and Anna Healey.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 7:00 – 9:00 PM on Thursday September 24, 2015 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901 and on Friday Morning September 25, 2015 from 9:30 AM until his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 100 Broad St., Hilltown, PA 18927.  His interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
