George Parker Geiges of Holland died suddenly, on Friday, July 17, 2015, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, at the age of 88.
He was the beloved husband of Helen Mack Geiges for 67 years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Elmer Bartholomew Geiges and Jane Parker Geiges.
Mr. Geiges was a resident of Holland for the past 49 years. He graduated from Bensalem High School, Class of 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served for 2 years in China during World War II. After his discharge he attended Pierce Business College in Philadelphia.
Mr. Geiges began his own business, Treen Box and Pallet Company, a manufacturer of wooden pallets and wood packaging products. Originally located in Philadelphia the business later relocated to its present location in Bensalem, where he worked until his passing. He never retired. He was a past president of the 500 member National Wooden Pallet & Container Association. His tireless work ethic and honorable character have set an example for all who know him.
He was a Mason and past Grand Master of Bristol Lodge #25 F. & A.M. He was also a past president and loyal member of the Bensalem Rotary for many years where he contributed tirelessly in service to others.
George was an avid outdoorsman and steward of the wilds. He enjoyed fishing trips throughout the world, especially fly fishing in Idaho. As an Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association member, he held an instrument rated private pilot’s license.
He cherished each individual member of his family. He will be sadly missed as a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was a generous entrepreneur who loved others and lived a life of service and philanthropy. As a mentor who honored education, he encouraged others to reach their potential.
In addition to his devoted wife Helen, he is survived by his children, Kathy L. Geiges of Melbourne, FL, Keith P. Geiges and his wife, Linda, of Holland, PA, Beth J. Geiges of Fairbanks, AK, his sister, Jane G. Clauser, of Turnersville, NJ, and his brother, Albert F. Geiges of Bensalem. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Benjamin J. Cadman and his wife, Michelle, Amy E. Nelson, Emily A. Geiges, George D. Geiges and his fiancee’ Jacquee D. Gordon, Andrew B. Cadman and his fiancee’ Julie M. Burklund, Michael J. Cadman, Jeffrey A. Cadman, Jr., Natalie W. Kicinski and her husband Dustin, and great grandchildren, Zoey E. Nelson, Taylor G. Cadman, Dylan G. Joyce and Jayden R. Joyce. He was predeceased by his brother in life Elmer B. Geiges, Jr., and by his lifelong brother in friendship Robert W. Scheer.
George’s family will receive friends on Thursday, July 23rd from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954 and on Friday, July 24th at Newtown Presbyterian Church, 25 N. Chancellor Street, Newtown, PA 18940 from 10:00am until his Funeral Service at 11:00am. Interment will be conducted privately in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
