James W. Houseman Sr. of Newtown, PA died peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2015, at his residence. He was 85.
He was the beloved husband of Florence E. Walker Houseman for 61 years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Edgar and Edith Gercke Houseman and brother of the late Edgar William Houseman and Doris Brehmeyer.
Mr. Houseman was a resident of Newtown for the past 6 years and formerly lived in Holland for 40 years. He was a proud Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. In 1965, Mr. Houseman started his own business, General Partition Company, located in Croydon, which is involved in paper conversion. He was actively involved with his business during his lifetime. Along with his wife, he was a member of Northampton Presbyterian Church since l970, where he served as a Sunday School superintendent, elder and groundskeeper. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing and taking trips to the shore. He served at the Ocean City Tabernacle as head usher and was a Life Trustee. Above all, he cherished the special times spent with his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his three children, James W. Houseman Jr. of Newtown, Richard A. Houseman Sr. and his wife, Rose, of Newtown, and Susan Ann Gregory and her husband, Peter, of West Chester, PA, and his sister, Barbara Scheich of Bensalem. He is also survived by his three loving grandchildren, Sandra Erlandson and her husband, Michael; Pamala Rahill and her husband, Timothy; Richard A. Houseman Jr. and his wife, Pamela; and eight great grandchildren, Carlie, Timmy, Michael, Tori, Gabriel, Isabella, Molly and Richard III.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Northampton Presbyterian Church, 539 Buck Road, Holland, PA 18966. Interment will take place at Forest Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Northampton Presbyterian Church at the above address.
