James A. Nolan, 59, of New Hope, Pa., succumbed to liver cancer at home on Father’s Day, June 21, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born in 1956 and was a lifelong resident of Bucks County. He graduated from Neshaminy High School, Langhorne, Pa., in 1974, and Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., Class of 1978.
He is survived by Anita, his wife of 35 years, daughter Kellyn and sons Thomas and Bennett.
He was president and co-owner of Tohickon Abstract Co., a family title insurance business in Holicong, Pa., where he worked since graduating from college, holding real estate closings throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He was highly respected within the title industry, and considered those with whom he had the pleasure of working to be his friends.
Upon learning of her father’s illness, Kellyn moved home to be by his side, helping both at home and in the office, and working as hard as he did.
Jim loved running, bicycling, and reading. Things were not his friends, however, and he usually left issues mechanical or technological to his younger son, Bennett.
Jim coached all his children in soccer at one point or another, and enjoyed spending time along the pitch, shouting from the sideline. He especially loved watching Kenyon College soccer, and continued to follow the team’s progress, even after his son Thomas had graduated.
Jim was predeceased by his father, James J. Nolan, a fine Irish dancer, and is survived by his mother, Bernita Curley, brothers Patrick J. Nolan and his wife Elizabeth, of Doylestown, Brendan F. Nolan and his partner Joseph Litton, of New Hope, and sister Carey K. Young and her partner April DiPietro of Mount Laurel, N.J., as well as many nieces, nephews, and their children.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Wednesday July 15, 2015 at Covenant Church, 4000 Route 202, Doylestown, PA 18902. Jim’s family will receive Condolences from 1:30 pm until his Life Celebration at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Heritage Conservancy, 85 Old Dublin Pike, Doylestown, PA 18901; The Kick Leuk Foundation, www.kickleuk.org , PO Box 61, New Hope, PA, 18938; or to Germantown Academy, 340 Morris Rd., Fort Washington, PA 19034-0287.
