CAROLYN M. “MARIE” RODGERS

Sunrise: November 28, 1929

Sunset: June 20, 2015

It’s with great sadness to announce that Carolyn M. “Marie” Rodgers died at 12:35 am Saturday, June 20 surrounded by her family.

She was married to our Dad, William Rodgers, who predeceased her, for 65 very happy years.

Marie was the beloved daughter of the late Caroline Weber.

Marie, as those who knew her will attest, was the most lighthearted, fun to be with person who always had a smile on her face, dancing feet and a song in her heart.

Her happiest years were spent raising her family in Mayfair and working at Kenny’s Discount Gifts on Frankford Avenue.

Marie enjoyed the last five years at Wood River Village, being the life of every party and a friend to all who were lucky enough to cross her path. Everyone knew her and most people who saw her coming would say, “Uh oh, here comes Trouble with a Capital T” because she was always engaged in mischief of one kind or another. Her table at dinner was always the most boisterous and noisy group at Wood River Village. Gina, the nurse who took wonderful care of her told her it was “an honor to take care of you” and most people who knew Marie would agree.

Marie was the devoted mother of Carolyn Amato (and late son-in law, Anthony Amato) and their children, Jacquelyn and Scott Rand, Anthony and Carrie Amato and Carolyn Amato plus six great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her daughter, Suzanne Rodgers and her husband Anthony Porrazza and their children, Ciara and David Seal and Taryn Porrazza and her fiancé, Christopher Wickel.

William and Dorothy Rodgers also survive her as well as their children, William and Casey Rodgers, Christen and Moss Jacobson, Colleen and Michael Snow, Briana Rodgers, Bridget and Charles Sgrillo, Mackenzie Rodgers, Michaela Rodgers and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled at 10:15 am on Monday, June 29th at Saint Bede the Venerable Roman Catholic Church (1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 am. Interment will follow at the Washington Crossing Veterans’ Cemetery where Marie will be reunited with her beloved husband, Bill.

We thank all our family, friends and the entire staff at Wood River Village (drivers, nurses, restaurant staff and administrators) for their love and support for our mother and us.

For those who wish to make a donation in Marie’s name, her preference would be the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at Grand Central Station, PO Box 4777, New York, New York 10163-4777.
