Vincent Sakovich of Warminster passed away on Sunday May 17, 2015 with his family by his side at Doylestown Hospital. He was 88.

For 64 years, Vince was the loving and devoted husband to Alberta “Birdee” Greber Sakovich.

Born in Shenandoah, PA, he was the son of the late William and Mary Payous Sakovich.

Vince graduated from Shenandoah Heights High School in 1944. He went on to serve proudly with the United States Navy during World War II before later earning his B.S. Degree in Forestry from Penn State University. As a young father and newlywed, Vince found employment with Bartlett Tree Company in Wilmington, DE and later as a building inspector for Levitt & Sons Construction. Together with his wife, Vince went on to own and operate Zig’s Bar, a successful restaurant in Warminster for 20 years. Vince spent the final years of his career with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as a store manager until his retirement.

Vince was an athlete and avid outdoorsman, who loved to share this passion with others. He was a coach, instructor and super-fan, committed to the endeavors of his children, grandchildren and friends. Even on his death bed Vince wanted the Phillies score. Vince was the world's greatest fisherman, who loved the waterways from the trout streams of northern Pennsylvania to the intercostal waters of Nokomis Florida. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love, compassion, and caring nature will be forever missed.

In addition to his wife, Vince is survived by his children, Vincent Sakovich and his wife, Sharon, of Ashburn, VA and Cathy Hunsberger and her husband, Steve, of Southampton, PA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Andy Hunsberger (Chris), Kristin Hunt (Michael) and Ben Sakovich (Taylor); and his great-grandchildren, A.J., Ryan Vincent, and Tommy Hunsberger, and Lily Hunt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Sakovich.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday May 22, 2015 from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Rd., Jamison, PA 18929. His interment will follow in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.
