Lenore “Lynn” J. O’Halloran of Newtown, Pennsylvania died peacefully in the presence of her family on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Chandler Hall Hospice Pavilion in Newtown. She was 79.
Lynn was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. O’Halloran.
Born in St. Charles, Illinois, Lynn was the daughter of the late Herbert W. and Lucy C. (Loerzel) Grommes, mother of the late Herbert P. Hansen, and sister of the late Edward J. Hurley.
Lynn was a former resident of Aurora, IL, Pittsburgh, PA, and Huntersville, NC before recently moving to Newtown in 2013. During her years in Aurora, Lynn enjoyed gardening, sketching, and writing poetry, but she was particularly known for her gift of entertaining. She loved to host elaborate parties with creative homemade food for relatives, friends, and business associates of her husband. Everyone felt welcomed in her home. She moved to Huntersville in 1999 to be near her daughter and enjoyed many happy years fostering close friendships at The Glens, an active adult retirement community. In recent years Lynn’s true passion was the time she treasured in the company of her two grandchildren. She provided them with a wonderful example of generosity, unconditional love, and a strong faith in God. Lynn always maintained her remarkable wit and will be truly missed by everyone who came to know her.
Lynn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen M. and Mark D. Schlegel and her two grandchildren Michaela and Kyle, all of Newtown. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandra E. Hansen of Wood Dale, IL and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who she loved dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 9 from 10:30 until her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Olde Church of St. Andrew, 135 Sycamore Street, Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Geneva, IL at a later date.
If so desired, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a favorite charity of Lynn’s, www.stjude.org.
