Jeanmarie M. Gallagher of Sinking Spring, PA, formerly of Richboro, died on Monday, March 30, at her home.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Jeanmarie was the beloved wife of the late Raymond P. Gallagher and daughter of the late Charles and Marguerite Tierney Payden.

Jeanmarie was a resident of Sinking Spring for the past 8 years, having formerly lived in Richboro for over 39 years. Jeanmarie was a graduate of Harding High School, and Southern Connecticut State University, earning her Masters Degree in Education.

Jeanmarie taught in the Abington School District, before joining the Council Rock School District where she taught elementary education at the Goodnoe Elementary School from 1962 until she became vice principal in 1989, holding that position until her retirement in 1992. She was one of the founding members and a very active communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Richboro. Jeanmarie was very involved in promoting women to have more of an active role, and was one of the first women Eucharistic ministers at St. Vincent’s Church.

Jeanmarie was very active in Northampton Township, she was a member and former President of the Northampton Township Historical Society, and was very involved and accredited with the preservation of several historic buildings in the township. Jeanmarie was active with the Soroptimist International of Indian Rock, especially with their scholarship programs that were near and dear to her heart. She was a member of Questers, a volunteer at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne and looked forward to her vacations in Sea Isle City, NJ.

Jeanmarie is survived by her dear children and their spouses; Sean Q. Gallagher and his wife, Cynthia, of New Milford, CT, Siobhan K. Ulrich and her husband, David, of Sinking Spring, PA, Kevin P. Gallagher and his wife Elizabeth, of Katy, TX, her brother James Payden and his wife, Ellen, of Weston, CT, She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren; Kelsey, Nolan, Molly, Morgan, Madeleine, Connor, Brendan, Madison and Emily.

Jeanmarie’s family will receive condolences on Monday, April 6, from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am in St. Vincent de Paul Church 654 Hatboro Rd. Richboro. Interment is at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.

In lieu of Flowers contributions in her memory may be made to Soroptimist International of Indian Rock Scholarship, c/o 173 Golfview Dr. Ivyland, PA 18974.
