Bridget Ann Hannah of Warminster and formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Friday April 10, 2015 at Doylestown Hospital. She was 81.

She was the beloved wife of 45 years to the late Alexander Hannah.

Born in Paoli, PA Bridget was the daughter of the late Patrick and Rose Lafferty McFadden and sister of the late Mary, Bernard, Kathleen, Patrick, and Marjorie.

Bridget was a long time resident of Philadelphia before moving to Warminster. Bridget possessed many great qualities that her family adored but most importantly she will be remembered as devoted wife and mother who always put her family first before herself. She will be dearly missed.

Bridget is survived by her children, Brian Hannah, MD and his Fiance, Isabel Seceda, Joanne Schanne and her husband, Michael, Carol Ardito and her husband, Anthony, and John Hannah and his wife, Jennifer; her grandchildren, Michael (Ann- Marie), Patrick, Anne Jeanette, Allison, Grace, Avery, and Alexander.   She also leaves behind her brother, Michael McFadden and her nephew James Taylor in addition to many extended relatives and friends.

Jane R. Solly (Riland) of Warminster died suddenly on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Abington Memorial Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, Jane was the beloved wife of 45 years to William R. “Bill” Solly, and daughter of Shirley A. Riland (Williams) and the late Jordan A. Riland.

Jane was a previous resident of Churchville and a graduate of Council Rock High School, Class of 1968. In March of 1970, Jane married the love of her life and for over 20 years they lived in Ivyland Borough before moving to Warminster in 1991.

Over the years, Jane worked in many occupations. She began her career as a secretary and then worked at the family’s farm in Solly Brother’s Farm Market. In 1990, she bought a children’s consignment shop with her friend Kathy Rook, which they operated until 1997. In later years, things came full circle and she worked as a secretary in the Centennial School District until her retirement 2014.

Jane always found time to give back to her community. She volunteered her time for the Ivyland Fire Company Ladies’ Auxillary, serving as its President and Secretary. She later served with the Company itself as its Secretary and Trustee. For all of her hard work and dedication she was made a Life Member of the Ivyland Fire Company. Even in her death she kept giving, donating to The Gift of Life Foundation.

Jane enjoyed planting flowers, counted cross-stitch sewing and traveling with her husband to St. Johns, USVI. Most of all she enjoyed caring for her many cats. When asked why she adopted older cats, her reply was, “Because I like to take the ones that need me the most.”

In addition to her beloved husband, Jane is survived by her dear children and their spouses William Randall Solly (Kelli); Kevin Eric Solly (Lynne); her sister Laura Peters (David); and her brother David J. Riland (Brenda). Jane is the proud grandmother of William Richard, Brian Patrick, Bryce Eagan, Kennedy Marie and Austin Ryan. She is also survived by her mother Shirley Riland and mother-in-law Barbara M. Solly.

Helen D. Witowski, of Bethlehem, PA died on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Country Meadows of Bethlehem. She was 89.

She was the beloved wife of the late Michael E. Witowski.

Born in Shamokin, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna Kalejta Dawgiert.

Helen grew up in Shamokin and shortly after marrying, in the early 1950’s moved to Philadelphia where she raised her family. She worked for over 35 years as an Account clerk with National Ammonia in Philadelphia before retiring in 1990. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and visit her sister in Texas during the summer. However, most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her children Camille M. Weintraub of Warrington, Mark E. Witowski and his wife, Denise, of Nazareth, and Renee M. Troy of Warrington, and her sister Lottie DiGiovanni of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren; Daniel, Chad, Rachel, Rebecca and Ryan.

Phyllis G. Eastburn, known as Sandy, died quietly at her home in Doylestown Township on April 7, 2015. She was 91. She was the wife of David P. Eastburn who died in 2005, and a long-time leader in the Bucks County arts and civic communities.

Mrs. Eastburn is survived by four children: D. Rodman Eastburn, Esq. and his wife, Valerie of Doylestown; Stephen F. Eastburn and his wife, Joanne of Beverly, Massachusetts; Susan B. Eastburn of New Britain, Pennsylvania and Laurie Bayon of Newtown, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Michel, Sarah, Alexandra, Mark, Matthew, Santiago, Michael, Christopher and Erika, and a great grandson, Leo.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Sandy was the daughter of Frazier and Phyllis Groff, moved widely throughout the eastern part of the country when a youth and ended up at Swarthmore College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1945 with a major in mathematics. After college, she went to work in the research department of the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank where she met her husband, a co-worker at the bank. With her assistance, her husband eventually rose to become its President.

Following their marriage, Sandy moved with her husband to his hometown, Doylestown, and established a family outpost at a farm in Doylestown Township which served as the family’s base of operations for sixty years. Sandy held the fort in Doylestown as Dave commuted to Philadelphia, and together they travelled throughout the United States and the world on his business.

Sandy was a very talented musician as was her husband. She played and taught the flute. Together, with a small coterie of musical friends, Sandy and Dave founded the Bucks County Symphony in 1953. Sandy served on its Board of Directors and played first flute for many years - and remained active until days before her death. Following her husband's retirement from the Federal Reserve, Sandy and Dave became active also in the management of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Her husband became its President and together they travelled throughout the world with Eugene Ormandy, Ricardo Muti and the Philadelphia Orchestra whose members became great friends. Sandy worshiped talent and her days with her husband and the Orchestra were probably the most joyful period of her life.

Closer to home, Sandy was active in a multitude of local organizations, especially while her children were growing up: Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Doylestown Presbyterian Church, Doylestown Hospital and Young Audiences.

Elizabeth Cornell Luff, lifelong resident and Historian of Northampton Township died peacefully on April 5, 2015 at the age of 90.

Born in Richboro, she was the beloved wife of 53 years to the late C. Vincent Luff who died in 1997. She was the daughter of the late John Banes Cornell and Margaret Atkinson Weiss Cornell. She was predeceased by her sisters Edith Fitzgerald, Edna Hawkins and Esther Neeld.

Betty, as she was known to family and friends, graduated in 1942 from Richboro High School. Betty and Vince raised their children on the family farm until it was sold and is now the Pheasant Run development in Holland. Betty then worked tirelessly to research family genealogy and also to preserve and maintain records, maps and books that contain historical Northampton Township information. With all her knowledge of genealogy and Northampton she wrote many articles for the "Historia".

She was a founding member of the Northampton Township Historical Society and received the Living Tree Award in 1997. In March of 2002 she received the Northampton Township Citizen of the Month Award and in 2008 was recognized by the Northampton Historical Commission for 35 years of service. She will always be remembered, for her warmth, gentle manor and stories that would warm your heart.

Betty was also a life long member of the North and Southampton Reformed Church in Churchville.

She is survived by her devoted children Gerald Luff (Jean Boccelli), Peggy DeYoung and her husband Gerald, Phyllis Orrino and her husband Thomas, and Teri Pagnotta and her husband Daniel. She is also survived by her 11 dear grandchildren; Douglas Luff, Robert DeYoung (Lisa), Jody Sckupakus (Frank), Angelene DeYoung, Thomas Orrino (Alison), Jennifer Swenson (Shaun), Jacqueline Orrino, Christine DiPilla (Michael), Daniel Pagnotta Jr. (Mollie), Kelly Pagnotta (fiance Matt Pingitor), Kaitlyn Pagnotta and 14 great grandchildren: Robert Jr., Brianna and Joseph DeYoung, Jake and Jordan Sckupakus, Thomas , III, and Ryan Orrino, Carmyn and Carly Swenson, Madison, Kamryn and Alice DiPilla, Colbie and Landon Pagnotta.

Barbara Lynn Shaw Severs of Richboro, died peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at her home surrounded by her beloved husband and family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 60.

Born in Philadelphia, Barbara was the beloved wife of 32 years to country artist, Les Severs and daughter of the late William Ray and Dolores Spoonhoward Shaw.

Barbara was blessed in many ways, not only did she have a loving husband, her sister and best friend Kathy Rook, her supportive brother-in-law Bill Rook, her 3 nieces and their husbands; Kim Capaldi and Rich, Sheri Omlor and Brian, Tammy Carbone and Kevin were like her children.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Richboro and a member of Addisville Reformed Church. She was a graduate of Council Rock High School class of 1972; she also attended Bucks County Community College. She was a Medical Staff Coordinator for 20 years at Holy Redeemer Hospital, Meadowbrook. For the past 15 years Barbara has been an Executive Assistant at IWCO Direct of Warminster.

She loved all children and animals, especially her dogs. She was an avid reader. She loved spending time at their campsite near the Jersey shore, looked forward to cruises with her husband and extended family. Barbara was known for her ability to be at the right place and the right time to help others. Her kindness never went unnoticed, for which she will always be remembered.

In addition to her husband, sister, brother-in-law and nieces, Barbara is survived by her great nephews, Kyle, Dylan, Connor and Owen.

Denise M. Vass, of Langhorne, PA passed away suddenly on Friday, April 3, 2015 at her residence. She was 40.  

Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the beloved daughter of Michael P. and Maryann Kelly McQuaid.

Denise would light up a room when she entered. She had a bubbly personality and a great smile. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially in Disney World. She loved music and reading books. She was a gifted and dedicated emergency room Registered Nurse with Aria Bucks in Langhorne.

Denise will be deeply missed by Stephen Vass and their children, Rachel Kelly Vass and Matthew James Vass. She was the beloved sister of Michael McQuaid, of Maple Shade, NJ, and Colleen McQuaid, of Feasterville, PA.

Dr. Anthony J. “Tony” Fareno of Newtown and formerly of Richboro passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 3, 2015 at Chandler Hall Hospice. He was 71.

Born in Philadelphia, Tony was the beloved husband of 47 years to Priscilla Baglivo Fareno. He was the son of the late Anthony and Veronica Barton Fareno.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Tony was a resident of Newtown for the past 15 years. He was a graduate of Father Judge High School, class of 1961. After graduation from Judge, Tony attended LaSalle University where he did his undergraduate work. He then received the Senatorial Scholarship to attend Temple University School of Dentistry. He graduated from TUSoD with honors in 1968.

Upon graduation from dental school, Tony entered the US Air Force. He served two years at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton, FL as a captain during the Vietnam War. He was quickly appointed the director of the dental clinic on the base.

In 1970, Tony moved back to Philadelphia and opened a private dental practice in Feasterville. He remained in Feasterville for 45 years treating his patients with skill, compassion and generosity. He truly enjoyed dentistry and his patients. Tony’s kindness went beyond his practice and for many years he provided a scholarship fund for a student in need who wanted to attend Father Judge High School as well as several other charitable organizations.

Tony was an avid reader and his interests included golfing, travelling, collaborating with colleagues, dining out and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Huntingdon Valley CC, Wildwood CC, the Knights of Columbus and the American Dental Association.

In addition to his beloved wife, Tony is survived by his devoted children, David and his wife, Michele, of Chalfont, Lynn Evans and her husband, Derek, of Doylestown and Anthony and his wife, Shannon, of East Fallowfield, PA. He is also survived by eight dear grandchildren, Jack, Kenzie, Nick, Max, Claire, Ryan, Timmy and Abby who adored him. He was the brother of Ann Marie Montney and her husband, Stephen, and Veronica Friel and her husband, Patrick.

Josephine M. Cook of Doylestown and formerly of Mt. Laurel, NJ passed away peacefully on April 2, 2015 at Pine Run Health Center. She was 90.

She was the beloved wife of 66 years to the late Allen M. Cook.

Born in Philadelphia she was one of seven children to the late Louis and Frances Hagner Freimiller.

Josephine was a voracious reader and treasured time with her beloved husband and family. She will be remembered for her great love of celebrations of any kind, most especially birthdays which she always made the most of. She will be dearly missed as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Josephine’s family wishes to thank the staff of Pine Run Health Care and Doylestown Hospital Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Josephine and her family.

Surviving are Josephine’s daughters, Leslie Weber and her husband, Edward, of Doylestown and Mari-Anne “Mari” Entwistle and her husband, Brian, of Dandridge, TN; her two adoring granddaughters, Lindsay Paoli (William) and Layne Weber and her great-grandson Nicholas Edward Paoli.

Theodore (Ted) Sluke, of Newtown, died peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at The Birches of Newtown. He was 91.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Mr.Sluke was the beloved husband of 56 years to Elizabeth I. Sluke. He was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Sims) Sluke.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and talented artist, Ted was a resident of Newtown for the past 13 years, and a communicant of The Church of St. Andrew.

He was a graduate of Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, class of 1940, and went on to attend Rutgers University while working for Exxon-Mobil, which at the time was the Standard Oil Co. He earned his B.S. degree in Accounting in 1953. Ted continued working with Exxon-Mobil in accounting/finance in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut until his retirement in 1982 after 36 years.

He spent his retirement years in Charlottesville Virginia, before moving to Newtown Pa.

Ted was a proud veteran of WWII (1943-1946), where he served as 1^st Lieutenant in the United States 3^rd Army (CORP of Engineers) while in Europe. He then Served in Manila in the Pacific theater to prepare for the invasion of Japan.

In addition to his beloved wife, Ted is survived by his devoted daughter, Lisa Hawley and her husband Peter of Doylestown, his brother Jack Sluke and his wife Ann, his sister Dorothy Grasso and her husband Rody. He is also survived by 2 dear grandchildren; Marisa and Nicole, whom he adored, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael.
