Florence. M. (Susie) Wysz (nee̒ Figlewski) of Cadbury at Cherry Hill died peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2015.
Born in Kingston, PA in 1922, she was the wife of Dr. Walter P. Wysz who died in 1977. She was the daughter of Boles J. and Marie S. (nee̒ Kozuchowski) Figlewski.
Susie had a strong intellectual curiosity all her life and graduated from Bucknell Junior College. She then studied to become an Oral Hygienist at Temple University School of Dentistry where she met her future husband, Walter P. Wysz. It was he who gave her the nickname “Susie” by which she was known for the rest of her life.
She was a woman ahead of her time, having a career as a Dental Hygienist and working with her husband in his dental practice. They lived in Philadelphia before moving to Cinnaminson, NJ where they lived for forty years.
Susie had a zest for life and many talents. She took a millinery class and learned to make beautiful custom hats. She learned to bead and made priceless handbags. She sketched in pencil, mastered photography and learned chair caning. She was a long-time volunteer for the Phila. County Dental Association, the Riverton Library and several other organizations in her lifetime.
Susie will be truly missed not only by her loving and devoted family but also by her friends at Cadbury where she has been a resident for more than ten years.
Susie is survived by her daughter BJ, her granddaughter Sandy (Geoff) and her great grandson, Antonio and extended family Maureen, Dean, Grace and Abigail.
Susie’s family will receive condolences on Friday March 6 at St. Rose of Lima of Lima Church 330 Kings Highway, Haddon Heights from 10:30am until her Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions are kindly requested in her memory to the Cadbury Residents Association with the notation “for entertainment only”: Cadbury at Cherry Hill, 2150 Route 38, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
