Richard J. DiLaurenzo, of Chalfont, PA died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at New Seasons at New Britain, Chalfont. He was 88.
He was the beloved husband of 61 years to the late Rachel M. Coraluzzi DiLaurenzo, and brother of the late John Fusco and Carmela Polito.
Richard grew up in South Philadelphia and enlisted in the US Navy during World War II, serving honorably on the aircraft carrier, USS Intrepid. After returning home from the war, he married and moved to Germantown, where he lived before moving to Wyndmoor in 1967. For most of his career, Richard worked as a tile setter for various companies in the Philadelphia area.
In 1995, he moved to Bucks County so that he would be closer to his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf, poker and watching the Philadelphia Phillies. However, he truly treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Joanne Karbach and her husband Robert of Chalfont, Richard D. DiLaurenzo and his wife Lillian of Perkasie, James J. DiLaurenzo and his partner Robert L. Silvagni of New Hope, Robert J. DiLaurenzo and his wife Beatrix of Doylestown, and Diane DiLaurenzo of Chalfont and a brother Lawrence Fusco of Sion, Switzerland. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren; Michael, Monica, Christopher and Ricky.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 18, 2011 from 10:00 am until his Funeral Service 11:00 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (Route 202 and Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901. His interment was held privately at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County, 2875 York Road Jamison, PA 18929.
