Joseph Vincent Battipaglia of Newtown, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 in Savannah, Georgia. He was 55.
He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Hall) Battipaglia, celebrating 30 years of marriage in July 2010.
Born in Astoria, Queens, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ann Battipaglia. After attending Fordham Preparatory School, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa in Economics from Boston College and earned his MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He began his career as a securities analyst at Elkins & Co. before becoming a financial analyst for the Exxon Corporation. He held numerous executive positions throughout his 18 years with Gruntal & Co. and was the former Chief Investment Officer at Ryan, Beck & Co. before becoming the Chief Market Strategist at Stifel Nicolaus in 2007. He was a well respected Wall Street personality and could be seen offering his perspective on the day’s events as a frequent guest on CNBC and Fox Business News.
Family and friends always came first and Joe would do anything to help them succeed. Family card games down the shore in Lavallette, NJ were easily the highlight of any weekend trip as Joe’s jokes kept his family laughing all night. He was a loving and loyal husband and the best father any child could ever ask for. He taught his children invaluable life lessons and how to lead an honorable life as he had done. His desire to achieve greatness and the grace with which he led his life won’t ever be forgotten.
An avid sports fan and proud father, Joe could be found on the weekends in the stands cheering for his three children as they competed athletically at Dartmouth College, Georgetown University, and the United States Naval Academy.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of thirty years Mary Ann, his three children Matthew, Christen, and Jeffrey, his loving mother-in-law Esther Hall, and his maternal aunts Lucy, Evelyn, and Mary.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday, April 18, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at the Joseph A.
