Margaret Finnegan Ethem of Doylestown died on Saturday, June 4, 2011, with her family by her side at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. She was 71.
She was the beloved wife for 46 years of Mel R. Ethem.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late William V. and Helen Murray Finnegan.
Mrs. Ethem was a resident of Doylestown for the past 22 years. She graduated from Fontbonne Hall Academy in the Bayridge section of Brooklyn, NY, Class of 1956. Margaret gave freely of her time and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Women’s Place, and Meals on Wheels. Her family came first and foremost in her life. She adored her grandchildren and cherished the special times spent with them. She will be sadly missed as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her two children, William R. Ethem and his wife, Lisa, of Holland Township, NJ and Ann M. Carracappa and her husband, Joseph A. III, of Lansdale, PA. She is also survived by her sister, Sally A. Finnegan of Glastonbury, CT and her six loving grandchildren; Jessica, Jacqueline, Jillian, Melanie, Max and Matthew.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday evening, June 8, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday, June 9, 2011, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (Route 202 and Sandy Ridge Road), New Britain, PA 18901 and to attend her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Jude Church, 325 W. Butler Avenue, Chalfont, PA 18914. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
