Ruth E. Slover, of Washington Crossing, PA died peacefully on the Feast Day of the Assumption on Friday, August 15th at Chandler Hall Hospice. She was 89.
She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew F. Slover, Sr., the loving mother of the late Andrew F. Slover, Jr., Mark S. Slover, Ruth E. Miley, and Kathleen T. Smyth and grandmother of the late Timothy and Thomas McKee.
Born in Phillipsburg, NJ Ruth was a daughter of the late Joseph R. and Naomi E. Danner Hyndshaw.
Ruth was a spiritual and devout Catholic woman who devoted her life to her family and to her dear friends who looked up to her as a second mother. During World War II, Ruth helped to entertain and rejuvenate the spirits of service men and women by actively participating in USO activities in Washington D.C. with the gift of her singing voice and the artistic skills of her dancing.
She worked for the FBI, became a homemaker, and later she was a supervisor for an Auto Parts Manufacturer. In her leisure she enjoyed piloting planes, gardening, canning her bountiful harvests, baking and above all creating memories with her family that will last forever. Ruth will be greatly missed as an angel who fell from heaven by everyone who has come to know and love her.
Ruth is survived by her loving and devoted daughters; Naomi E. DiBlassio and her husband Richard of Holland, PA, Patricia J. Slover of Washington Crossing, PA, and Karen C. Slover and her partner Roseann Rapa of Mount Ephraim, NJ. She is also survived by her sister Naomi E. Rigby and her husband Phillip, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday August 19th from 10:30 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:30 AM at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will be at 2:00PM in St. Phillip and St. James Cemetery, Phillipsburg, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Chandler Hall Hospice, 99 Barclay St. Newtown, PA 18940.
