September 1st, 2014
Joseph S. Kakas, formerly of Huntingdon Valley, PA, died peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2014, at Luther Park, Hatboro, PA. He was 97.
He was the husband of the late Mary Madden Kakas for 46 years.
Born in Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of the late Julia (Buki) and Joseph Kakas and brother of the late Elizabeth, John, Ernest, Arthur & James Kakas, Helen Papp, Julia Piskovics and Aurelia Horvath.
From 1945 until 1978, Mr. Kakas was employed as a tool & die engineer with Philco Corporation. Then he worked for Krass Inc. for 4 years as well as another small machine shop, finally retiring at the age of 88. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy with a combined total of 25 years of service between active duty and the Reserves. In his leisure time he enjoyed repairing watches and was a talented ballroom dancer. He was both a gentleman and a gentle man throughout his lifetime. He will be sadly missed as a devoted father, brother and friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan E. Richardson and her husband, John F., of Richboro, his two brothers, Stephen and Andrew Kakas, and his sister-in-law, Betty Hartzell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966.
Interment will military honors will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.

Patricia C. Wagner of Palm Coast, Florida died peacefully on August 31, 2014 at her residence with her husband by her side. She was 74.
Pat was the beloved wife of 55 years to William V. Wagner.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Gallagher Anton.
Pat was a long time resident of Philadelphia before moving to Palm Coast in 2003. She was a resident of the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia where she came to know her adoring husband Bill. They eventually married and settled in the Parkwood Manor section of Philadelphia. Over the years, Pat along with her husband Bill, succeeded in many life accomplishments. She supported and encouraged her husband Bill in achieving his education while he worked and attended night school at LaSalle University. They traveled the country and the world together. Pat eventually went to work herself at Holy Family University in Philadelphia and retired after many faithful years of service as the Technical Services Coordinator for the Librarian. She was a true friend and mentor to many people and encouraged all to pursue life to its fullest.
Pat was a consummate role model for the Catholic faith. She was a former Communicant of St. Anselm Church in Philadelphia and a very active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Palm Coast. She was a Eucharistic Minister at her church and always maintained her devotion to the Blessed Mother. Pat enjoyed playing bingo at the Italian American Club and also at the VFW Post in Palm Coast. She was an advocate for the Wounded Warriors that have served our country in both current and past conflicts. Pat’s true gift in life was the quality to see the best in everyone. She raised and expected her sons to be gentlemen, men of character and to be respectful to all. Pat will be truly missed by everyone who has had the pleasure and experience of knowing and loving her.
In addition to her husband Bill, Pat is survived by her two sons; William V. Wagner, Jr. of Newtown and Dr. Robert C. Wagner and his wife Erika of Deland, FL. She was the special Nanny to her cherished grandson Kristofer and was the sister of Joan L. Blair, Frederick M. Anton, Jr., James E. Anton, Joseph M. Anton and Mary F. Anton and the aunt and cousin of many.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9:30am until her Funeral Mass 10:30am on Saturday September 20th in the St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966.
Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem.

Ryan Michael Lesher of Churchville passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2014. He was 15.
Born in Meadowbrook he was the loving son of Edward D. and Lisa Ross Lesher.
Ryan was set to embark on his sophomore year as a student at Council Rock High School South where he excelled both academically and athletically. He was awarded Business Student of the Month and achieved distinguished honor roll status. Ryan played Soccer and Basketball, and served as a Co-Captain of the CR South Basketball team in 9th grade. In addition he was slated to be a Co-Captain of the FC Bucks Club Soccer Team for the 2014-2015 season. He also played for the Rebels Basketball Academy. Prior to attending Council Rock South, Ryan was a student at Richboro Middle School and Maureen M. Welch Elementary.
An all-around sports enthusiast, Ryan loved participating (and winning) in Fantasy Football, Baseball, and Basketball. He was a contender in multiple fantasy leagues. Ryan also loved spending time in the mountains boating, tubing and riding in the golf cart.
School and athletics kept Ryan busy but he still found time to selflessly volunteer working with Athletes Helping Athletes, Special Olympics, Buddy Club and Camp Invention.
Ryan possessed a zest for life that was contagious. He will be sorely missed by all who came to know and love him.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his brothers, Edward, Jr., Justin, and Christopher Lesher; his maternal grandparents Frank and Doris Ross, his paternal grandfather John G. Lesher as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Elizabeth Lesher.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings Thursday September 4, 2014 from 5-9 PM and Friday September 5th, from 9:30-10:30 AM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Rd., Ivyland, PA 18974 where his funeral service will take place at 10:30 AM.
His interment will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne.

Cullen Tate Keffer of Holland passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2014. He was 15.
He was the beloved son of Joseph H. and Alice Dieckman Keffer and adored brother of Riley.
Cullen’s passions in life were many, but especially lacrosse in which he earned a varsity letter in his freshman season. He finished his freshman year with Distinguished Academic Honors at Council Rock South High School. He also loved music, snowboarding, sports, having fun, and travelling. He experienced so much of what the world has to offer in his short time.
People gravitated toward Cullen and this resulted in so many terrific friendships. His group was very close and dear to him.
In addition to his parents and brother, Cullen is survived by a very large group of loving and indulgent aunts, uncles, cousins, grandfather and extended family, in addition to an immeasurable number of friends.
Cullen was an incredible young man who touched the lives of so many. His loss will be felt deeply by all those who surrounded him with love and friendship during his too short, but extraordinary life. His influence will be felt forever.

Shamus M. Digney of Holland died Saturday August 30, 2014 at Geisinger-Community Medical Center after a car accident claimed his innocent life.
He was 15 years old and taken from us all too soon.
Shamus was born November 11, 1998 in Meadowbrook. He is survived by his loving parents Kathleen M. Digney and Charles J. Digney Jr. (Karen), his dear siblings; Trish (Scott), Dan (Erica), Megan (Chris), Ryan, DJ, Chase, Morgan and Cole, his maternal grandfather Donald J. McPeak and paternal grandmother Sally Digney and will be forever missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and his nephew Logan and his stepsisters Lauren and Kiersten.
His infectious smile lit up everyone’s day and his big heart made him lovable to all. He was a dedicated basketball and football player and had so much passion for the game and his teammates. He was an active member of the St. Bede Parish where he played CYO sports and was an altar server. Shamus was to begin his sophomore year at Council Rock South.
Shamus's family will receive condolences Friday evening, Sept. 5th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and on Saturday from 10:00am until his Funeral Mass 11:00am at St. Bede the Venerable Church 1071 Holland Rd. Holland.
Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Richboro.

Eugene F. Volz of Hatboro, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Holy Redeemer Hospice, Meadowbrook, PA. He was 91.
He was the husband of the late Elizabeth “Bitzy” Bromley Volz.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George and Anna C. Boyle Volz.
Mr. Volz was a long time resident of Holland, Buck County before moving to Southampton. As a freshman at LaSalle College in 1942 he left school to enlist in the Army and became one of the last “horse soldiers” with the 124th. Cavalry. Selected to participate in the Army Specialized Training Program, he attended the University of Utah and subsequently volunteered for the infantry where he served as squad leader during the Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe and Rhineland campaigns with the 70th Division and was awarded a Bronze Star. Upon his discharge, he returned to LaSalle earning his bachelor’s degree in education. In 1984, Mr. Volz retired as Director of Personnel with Unisys Corporation. He formerly was employed with Philco Ford as Corporate Manager of Training and Development and manager of Organization and Personnel Development.
Active with youth groups, he was one of the founding members of the Penn Academy Boys Club coaching baseball and basketball. He was also the assistant scoutmaster of Troop 280 BSA in Holland and assistant district commissioner of Playwicki District BSA. He later became an instructor with the evening Division of LaSalle College where he taught courses in Human Relations and Business.
He is survived by his four children, Kevin Volz of Holland, Sheilagh Volz of Hatboro, Peter Volz and his wife, Patricia, of Warminster, and Brian Volz and his wife, Maxine, of Feasterville. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, September 4, 2014, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass11:00 AM at St. John Bosco Church, 235 E. County Line Road., Hatboro, PA 19040.
Interment with military honors will take place on Friday, September 5, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

Boleslaw “Bill” Jastrzebski of Chalfont, PA passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2014 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 82.
Born in Poland, he was the eldest son of the late Konstanty and Konstancja (Paszkiewicz) Jastrzebski.
Bill was the beloved husband of Stephanie (Gruszka) Jastrzebski with whom he was about to celebrate 57 years of marriage on September 1, 2014.
In 1951, Bill came to the United States, gained his citizenship and served proudly with the United States Army during the Korean War era.
Following his military service, he went on to matriculate at The Pennsylvania State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1959. He enjoyed playing soccer, boxing and skiing during his youth and military service years. While at Penn State, he was a member of the boxing club and helped to found the University’s new ski club.
Bill had a passion for engineering and construction his entire life. During his years at Penn State, he also worked as a Draftsman for L.T. Beck & Associates of Phila., PA. Upon graduation, he began his career as an Engineer with Modjeski & Masters where he was involved with the design of many major projects here in the Tri-State area and nationally. After several years with M&M, Bill decided that he preferred to be involved with local projects so that he could be close to home to be with his family. He left M&M and joined Urban Engineers, Inc. and also began graduate studies at Drexel University. In 1972, Bill decided to establish his own Consulting Firm. Bill was the Founder, Chairman and President of Jastrzebski Engineers, Inc. in Chalfont, PA where he was still actively involved until his passing. Bill also served his community and dedicated himself to public service for 23 years, first as a member of the New Britain Township Planning Commission and then the Zoning Hearing Board as a Member and subsequently as Chairman. Along with his wife, he was also a member of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown from the time of its inception.
Bill was a consummate professional with a gentle demeanor. He was soft-spoken yet authoritative. He will be remembered by his family, friends and colleagues as a dearly devoted husband, dedicated father, grandfather, brother, friend and extremely hard worker. Bill was never afraid to face any challenge. His spirit and devotion to family and community was unwavering. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children, Roman C. and Lucina S. Jastrzebski; his grandchildren, Rachel K., Christopher M. and Bryan A. Jastrzebski; and his brother Mietek Jastrzebski.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Genevieve Rzucidlo and Mary Kopecki.
Relatives, friends and colleagues are invited to pay respects and greet the family on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Katherine T. Horch Burkart of Newtown died peacefully on Monday August 25, at Chandler Hall in Newtown. She was 101.
Born in Germany, Katherine the beloved wife of the late Frederick Burkart and mother of the late Erika Squiccimara.
Katherine was a resident of the Newtown area for over 20 years. She was a faithful communicant of the Church of St. Andrew’s. Family was first and foremost in her life, her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought a sparkle to her eyes.
Katherine is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law Carl D. and Susanne Burkart and her 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Katherine’s family will receive condolences on Thursday August 28, from 10:00 am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am in the Church of St. Andrew 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown.
Interment will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne.

Robert E. Clark, of Twining Village in Holland, PA, died peacefully on Friday, August 22nd, at his residence. He was 86.
He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Rosalie Welker Clark.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Springfield, Robert was the only child of the late Claude P. and Rose Bedenk Clark.
Mr. Clark was a proud veteran of the Army who served during World War II in the Japan occupation forces. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Villanova University and later went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Drexel University. Robert was an accomplished Metallurgical Engineer who received numerous U.S. Patents for his achievements during his tenure at Westinghouse Steam Turbine Division. In his leisure he enjoyed reading and coin collecting and was an avid sports fan. Bob, to his family and friends, delighted in telling jokes. As a man of deep faith, Robert had been very involved in the Cursillo Movement and Kairos prison ministry. He had served as an Extraordinary Minister for the parishioners of St. Andrew Catholic Church and the residents of Crestview Center Nursing Home. He will be greatly missed as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his beloved wife Rosalie, he is survived by his loving and devoted children: Joyce M. Bartner of Randolph, NJ; R. Mark Clark and his wife Anne of Langhorne, PA; Leslie A. Tillman of Victor, ID; Stacie L. Whiting and her husband Robert of Lititz, PA; and Denise R. Webb and her husband Robert of Oreland, PA. He is also survived by his four loving grandchildren: Matthew and Stephen Clark, and Rebecca and Mitchell Whiting.
