Jennie M. Greto passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 2, 2012. Formerly of Sarasota and Spring Hill, Florida, she was a resident of Llenroc Manor House, Chandler Hall in Newtown, Pennsylvania, for 2 years. She was 94 years young.
Jennie was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Greto, and the daughter of the late Joseph and Benedetta Tedesco Marchesani. She was predeceased by her four brothers and one sister.
Born in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Jennie and her husband Joe raised their family in Springfield, Delaware County. While raising her children, she also worked as a real estate agent and property manager in Media, PA. In 1979, she and Joe retired to Florida.
Jennie took pleasure in knitting and sewing, and made many clothes for herself and her family. She was an excellent cook, and Italian food was her specialty. She loved competing, and in Florida became an avid golfer, proud to have made a hole in one on two separate occasions. Singing was a favorite pastime and she was a member of several choral groups, performing with the Timber Tones of Spring Hill, and most recently the Chandler Hall Bluebirds. She will be remembered for the time spent with her cherished family and will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.
Jennie is survived by her children and their spouses, Ronald Greto and his wife Marianne of Woodbridge, VA; Janet Evans and her husband Bill of Newtown, PA; and Thomas Greto and Anne Casey of Woodbury, CT. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Michael Greto and his wife Megan; Britt Evans and Christina Evans; two great-grandchildren Joseph and Giuliana Greto, and her sister Lucy Borgese of Morton, PA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial for Jennie on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Olde Church of Saint Andrew, 131 Sycamore Street, Newtown.
Interment will be private at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield.
Contributions in her memory may be made to The Parkinson Council, 111 Presidential Blvd., Suite 250, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 or The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, National Capital Chapter, 1800 M Street NW, Suite 750 South, Washington, D.C. 20036.
