James Connor

February 8th, 2012

James J. Connor, of Holland, PA died after a long and courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 72.
He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Sheila McNamee Connor.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Florence Connor (nee Dowling) and brother of the late Jack Connor and Betty Boyle.
Jim grew up in Philadelphia, went to St. Helena’s grade school and was a 1958 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School for Boys. After graduating, he joined the IBEW, Local 98, starting as an apprentice, working his way up to a journeyman electrician, and as a union electrician before joining Williard Inc. as a project executive. For over 30 years he worked with Williard overseeing and managing projects throughout the Philadelphia area before retiring in 2004.
Jim was always on the go, not just for work, but also with his family. He was an active member of St. Bede the Venerable Church, Holland where he served on many committees including, CYO coach, board member and grounds keeper. He dedicated his time to his children who played on the basketball, soccer and track teams while they were there and even after they graduated. He enjoyed spending time with his family and travelling with his wife and friends. His outgoing personality and love for his family and friends will always be remembered.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children Maureen Nix and her husband Danny of New York, NY, Kathleen Vargas and her husband Mauricio of Ottawa, Canada, and Jim Connor and his wife Becky of Doylestown, PA his 3 sisters, Mary Daisley of Drexel Hill, PA, Florence Chmelko of Baltimore, MD, and Pat Gibbons of Wilmington, DE, his 8 grandchildren; Aidan, Owen, Declan, Cavan, Sean, Jacqueline, Danny and Liam. He is also survived by his best friend from first grade Bill Cummings and his wife Nancy, who brought love, caring and fun to this journey.

Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.

Mark J. Reifsnyder

Mark J. Reifsnyder of Levittown, PA died suddenly on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at his residence. He was 47.

He was the beloved son of Patricia R. Bentivogli of North Wales, PA and the late Morris Harry Reifsnyder.

Born in New Brunswick, NJ, Mark was a resident of Levittown for the past 3 years and formerly lived in Pennington, NJ. In the past, he had been employed for 3 years at Home Depot located in Mercer County, NJ.

He will be sadly missed as a loving son, father, brother and friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved mother, he is survived by his daughter, Brianna Reifsnyder of Pennington, NJ, his brother, Scott M. Reifsnyder and his wife, Carol, of Fairless Hills, PA and his sister, Tracey L. Williams and her husband, Ronald, of Fairbanks, AK.

Nancy G. Kupp (Caffrey)

February 7th, 2012

Nancy G. Kupp of Southampton died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Southampton Estates in Southampton. She was 87.

Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Kupp.

Born in Sugar Notch, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Mary Frances Riley Caffrey and sister of the late John, James and Leo Caffrey.

Nancy was a former resident of Sugar Notch, PA before moving to Bucks County where she had resided in Ivyland and Southampton. She had worked at Hurst Performance in Warminster for over twenty years. Nancy was a founding member and devoted daily communicant of St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church in Jamison and had developed and participated in the Prayer Garden of the original church. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her children, Thomas J. Kupp and his wife Jane of Syracuse, NY, Marianne Mahon and her husband John of New Britain and Michael D. Kupp and his wife Linda of Newtown. She is also survived by her sister Mary Messner of Willow Grove and her two grandchildren, Jennifer Skates and her husband Randall and Liza Marie Kupp-Hamberger and her husband Bryan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing, Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 9:30am until her Funeral Mass 10:30am at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison.

Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont.

Kathleen M. O'Connell

Kathleen M. O’Connell of Langhorne, PA and Somers Point, NJ died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. She was 67.

Born in Philadelphia, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Richard L. O’Connell and Margaret M. Dwyer O’Connell Rodgers and sister of the late John J. O’Connell.

Kathleen has compassionately served her community as a Registered Nurse for many years. She has spent countless hours volunteering throughout the community for numerous charities and causes that touched her heart. Everyone who has come to know her, will always remember her for her goodwill and care that she showed them. In her leisure, she enjoyed traveling, spending time at the Sea Shore, and most especially bringing her family and friends together at either her home or at the many restaurants she loved to frequent. She will be sorely missed by everyone who has had the opportunity to know and love her.

Kathleen is survived by her two loving children and their spouses; Christopher Sejda and Leslie of Langhorne, PA and Kirsten Sejda and Steven Potashnick of Metuchen, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren Winston, Nigel, and Riley Sejda.

Elizabeth “Betty” Lynch (Rufo)

Elizabeth “Betty” Rufo Lynch, of Trevose, died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was 84.
She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Lynch.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Blake Rufo and sister of the late Rose Marie Fonash and the late Eve Rufo Koehler.

Betty is survived by her nephew James R. Fonash and his wife Donna of Chalfont, her niece Christine R. Kosinski and her husband Edward, her great niece Jaime (Fonash) Voels (Ryan & son Jackson) and her 3 great nephews Kyle & Josh Kosinski, and Jared Fonash. She was the beloved "Aunt Betty" to her late husband’s niece Donna Frank (Don) and nephew Matthew Brennan. She will be greatly missed by her neighbors: Jeff and Debbie Jennings family, Ken and Molly Soondar; and Viola Bohl.

Betty’s family will receive condolences on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 from 9:30AM until her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM, at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

James N. Masceri

February 2nd, 2012

James N. Masceri, of Langhorne formerly of Huntingdon Valley died on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at his residence. He was 88.

He was the beloved husband of 53 years to late Carlotta Bisceglia Masceri. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary Romano Masceri, dearest father of the late Dr. David R. Masceri and late Dr. James N. Masceri and brother of the late Catherine Miller.

Jim was a resident of Langhorne for the past 10 years having formerly lived in Huntingdon Valley for 36 years. He was the owner of J & D Party Favors for many years. A proud veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Medic 1st Class during World War II, Jim was awarded a Purple Heart for his outstanding courage under fire. He and his late wife loved to travel, he enjoyed being with family, especially grandchildren at the Jersey shore and even took time to go to the casinos for a game of chance. He will be sadly missed by his devoted and caring family and friends.

Jim is survived by his son, Dr. Stephen J. Masceri and his wife Tricia of Newtown, his brother Joseph and sister Marian, his 11 dear grandchildren; Michael, Jennifer, David, Matthew, Stephanie, Nicole, Christopher, Amy, Stephen, Nicholas and Daniel, he will also be missed dearly by his supportative former daughters-in-law, Marlene Fackler and her husband Dave and Eileen Bishop and her husband Jim.

Jennie M. Greto (Marchesani)

February 2nd, 2012

Jennie M. Greto passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 2, 2012. Formerly of Sarasota and Spring Hill, Florida, she was a resident of Llenroc Manor House, Chandler Hall in Newtown, Pennsylvania, for 2 years. She was 94 years young.

Jennie was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Greto, and the daughter of the late Joseph and Benedetta Tedesco Marchesani. She was predeceased by her four brothers and one sister.

Born in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Jennie and her husband Joe raised their family in Springfield, Delaware County. While raising her children, she also worked as a real estate agent and property manager in Media, PA. In 1979, she and Joe retired to Florida.

Jennie took pleasure in knitting and sewing, and made many clothes for herself and her family. She was an excellent cook, and Italian food was her specialty. She loved competing, and in Florida became an avid golfer, proud to have made a hole in one on two separate occasions. Singing was a favorite pastime and she was a member of several choral groups, performing with the Timber Tones of Spring Hill, and most recently the Chandler Hall Bluebirds. She will be remembered for the time spent with her cherished family and will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.

Jennie is survived by her children and their spouses, Ronald Greto and his wife Marianne of Woodbridge, VA; Janet Evans and her husband Bill of Newtown, PA; and Thomas Greto and Anne Casey of Woodbury, CT. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Michael Greto and his wife Megan; Britt Evans and Christina Evans; two great-grandchildren Joseph and Giuliana Greto, and her sister Lucy Borgese of Morton, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial for Jennie on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Olde Church of Saint Andrew, 131 Sycamore Street, Newtown.

Interment will be private at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield.

Barbara Knight (Fritzinger)

Barbara F. Knight, of Warminster, PA died on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at her home with her family by her side. She was 83.

She was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late Kenneth W. Knight.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marie Wintz Fritzinger and mother of the late Steven Knight.

Barbara grew up in Philadelphia, and moves to Holland in 1962. After losing her beloved husband in 2006, she moved to Ann’s Choice. For over 26 years, Barbara was a teacher, with 21 of those years being spent in the Centennial School District.

She was active in Women’s Optimist, Scouting, Northampton Senior Center a PEO sister and St. John’s United Methodist Church, Ivyland. She was always on the move and loved to travel here or abroad. She and her husband Ken had many wonderful adventures, and especially enjoyed utilizing the Elderhostel programs.

She is survived by her daughter Janice Gray of Perkasie, PA, her sisters Muriel Chapman of Bromall, PA, her brother in law Donald Knight of Ottsville PA, and her, sister in law Thelma Stott of Philadelphia PA. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren; Keith, Ken, Chris, Waylon, Wendy and Julie and her 7 great-grandchildren; Michael, Jacob, Faith, Matty, Mason, Madox and Brian whom gave her so many years of enjoyment.

Linda Ann Toland Linda Ann Toland (Caplan)

Linda Ann Toland of Perkasie, PA died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. She was 42.

She was the beloved wife of 12 years to Paul Toland and loving mother of Amanda R. Toland and Emily R. Toland.

Born in Elkins Park, she was the daughter of Anita J. Sole and her husband, Alex, of Philadelphia and Harold Caplan and his wife, Diane, of Perkasie.

Linda grew up in Philadelphia and was a 1987 National Honors Society graduate of George Washington High School where she also was a member of the marching band, concert band and orchestra as a flutist. She then went on to Penn State University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management in 1991.
Linda loved spending time with her daughters and her husband. She enjoyed rollerblading, riding her bike and could often be found settled down with a good book. Her talents were shown throughout her home, for she had a flair for decorating and was constantly formulating another home improvement project. Her gift of love and dedication to her family will always be remembered and cherished.

Linda’s courageous battle against breast cancer was truly heroic. She never stopped living and her ability to find happiness, joy and peace in spite of adversity inspired all who came in contact with her.

In addition to her husband, daughters, and parents, she is survived by her brother, Michael A. Caplan and his wife, Cathy, of Lincoln University, PA, her 3 sisters; Liela Caplan-Rushton and her husband, William L., of Huntingdon Valley, PA, Andrea Dunning and her husband, Gary, of Perkasie, PA, and Valerie Schulz and her husband, Paul, of Perkasie, PA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Margaret C. Alessandro of Holland died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Manor in Meadowbrook. She was 78.

Margaret was the beloved wife of 59 years to Rudolph P. Alessandro.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Edward T. and Theresa DeFao Ambrose and the sister of the late Elaine Horan.

Margaret was a former resident of Holland for 24 years before moving to St. Joseph’s Manor. She was the former owner of Alessandro Beer Distributors in the Germantown section of Philadelphia for 28 years. Margaret was a communicant of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland and will be remembered for the quality times spent with her family, especially with her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her beloved husband Rudolph, Margaret is survived by her son, Rudolph M. Alessandro and his wife, Barbara, of Richboro and her two grandchildren, Stacey Flood and her husband, Chris, and Lindsey Bannon and her husband, J.T., and her three great grandchildren, Madison, Ryan and Christian Flood.
