Anna Garson (Lampert)

Anna Garson of Churchville died on Friday, December 17, 2010, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. She was 89.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Garson. Born in Passaic, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Nemeth Lampert.
Anna was a resident of Churchville for the past 50 years and has been a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Richboro.
She is survived by her daughter Clare Gerling and her husband Richard of Stuart FL, 2 dear grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Services and Interment will be private.

Thomas Stack

December 17th, 2010

Thomas P. Stack, of Levittown, died peacefully on Friday, December 17, at his home with his family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Susan for the past 18 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Rita Stack (nee Palma) and the late Robert Stack.
Tom was a resident of Levittown for the past 28 years. He retired after 25 years as a Lieutenant with the Department of Corrections for the State of New Jersey.
He will be deeply missed by all those who came to know and love him.
In addition to his wife and mother Tom is survived by his children; Leighann, Robert, Thomas, Edward, Kaitlyn, his 2 sisters, Susan Manegold (Bob), Beth Gavin (Fran), 1 grandson Logan, as well as numerous family members, friends, and his faithful companion “Sadie”.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass, Monday January 3, 2011 at 10:00 am St. Richards Church, 3010 S. 18th St., Philadelphia, PA 19145-4898. Interment was held privately.

Donald F. Magee

December 17th, 2010

Donald F. Magee, of Abington, PA died on Friday, December 17, 2010, at his at residence. He was 70.

He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Carol G. Walton Magee.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Russell and Marion Fredericks Magee and father of the late Michael W. Magee.

Don was a resident of Abington for 45 years. He was born in Philadelphia, graduated from Cheltenham High School and attended Temple Technical School. He began his career as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union for over 48 years.

Don enjoyed antique cars and was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, Cadillac LaSalle Club, Chrysler Club of America and the Down the Road Cruisers. He also enjoyed model trains and was a member of the Train Collectors of America.

Don was also very proud to have been one of the founding members of the Macoby Creek Center in 1996; a group home which served those with special needs. More than anything, Don truly loved spending time with his two special needs children, going to car shows, watching the birds in his back yard and being in the sun on the beach in Cape May.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his loving daughter, Donna L. Magee, and his dear sister Diana B. Duggan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life, Thursday, December 30th at noon at the Huntingdon Valley Country Club, 2295 Country Club Drive, Huntingdon Valley. Interment private.

Betty Ryan (Shiplett)

Betty S. Ryan, of Richboro, PA died on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Pine Run Health Care. She was 88.
She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Ryan.
Born in Zanesville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Dewey F. and Isyl Davis Shiplett, sister the late Patsy Shiplett, Helen Moore and grandmother of the late Gregory Ryan.
Betty grew up in Zanesville, OH and moved to Bucks County in 1970. She worked as a secretary for many years in Warrington; however, her real passion was being with her family. She was a loving and devoted, wife and mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She loved traveling and spending time with her friends around the card table playing Bridge, where her reputation as a card shark followed her. She will always be remembered for the love and kindness she shared with all of her family and friends.
She is survived by her children Michael F. Ryan and his wife Kathy of Gahanna, OH, Molly S. Castor and her husband Kirby of Doylestown, PA, and Kevin J. Ryan and his wife Angelia of Ellicott City, MD. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons.

Florence Kubek Arthur

Florence Kubek Arthur of Huntingdon Valley died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Briarleaf Nursing Home, Doylestown surrounded by her loving family. She was 59.
Florence was the beloved wife of the late Harry Kubek and the late John Arthur.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Mom and Pop Heir.
Florence was a former resident of Northeast Philadelphia before moving to Bryn Athyn in 1995. She had worked for many years as a teller at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook. Florence enjoyed good times spent with her family and will be deeply missed by all who came to know her.
Florence is survived by her three sons, Leon H. Kubek and his wife, Stacey, of Ottsville, Harry S. Kubek and Robert D. Kubek, both of Huntingdon Valley. She is also survived by her sisters, Shirley and Deanne, and by 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Elizabeth Benes (Niemann)

Elizabeth Benes, of New Seasons Assisted Living, Chalfont, PA died on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at her home. She was 90.
She was the beloved wife of 68 years to Gerald J. Benes, who died on December 2, 2010.
Elizabeth grew up in Brooklyn and on October 6, 1942 married her beloved husband Gerald before he entered the US Army on November 30 of that year. Like many women, she faithfully awaited the return of her husband and upon his return raised a family which was the center of her life.
After her husband’s retirement in 1976 from the fire department, they relocated to Clearwater, FL where they enjoyed many warm winters. Then in 2003 they returned to the Northeast, this time settling in Bucks County, so that they could be closer to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family and selflessly dedicated herself to them. As a wife and mother none were better, however, her true gift was being a grandmother and great-grandmother, and the love she shared with them will always be treasured.
She is survived by her sons Gerald B. Benes, Barry B. Benes and his wife Rosemary, and Kevin J. Benes and his wife Lynn, and her sister Carolyn Knowles. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren Gregory and wife Joyce, Christopher and wife Angela, Kevin and wife Christine, Matthew, Shannon and husband Richard Postiglione, Lauren and husband Steven Cohen and Ryan and 3 great grandchildren Brian, Kimberley and Stefan.

Matilda E. Cockroft (Gartner)

Matilda E. Gartner Cockroft, of Warminster died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 13, 2010 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. She was 87.
She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Cockroft.
Born in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Amalie Gartner.
Mrs. Cockroft has been a resident of Holland since 2005. Prior to her move she was a resident of Warminster for 42 Years. Matilda immigrated from Germany with her parents and eventually settled at a farm in Philadelphia which eventually became the location of LaSalle University. She graduated from Little Flower High School and was an avid Bassoon player. Matilda was a faithful and active parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul Church. She devoted many years volunteering at the church in honor of her deep love for God. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and being a loving mother and grandmother, and also a devoted foster parent to many children through out her life.
Matilda will be sorely missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know and love her.
Matilda is survived by her loving and devoted children, John M. Cockroft of Wayne, PA, James F. Cockroft of Milford, MA, Patricia A. Berry of Narberth, PA, and Mary A. Hall and her husband Steve of Holland, PA. She is also survived by her 12 dear grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Richard A. Venne Sr.

Richard A. Venne, Sr. of Newtown died suddenly Monday December 13, 2010 at his residence. He was 60 years old.
He was the beloved husband of 34 years to Johnette Schafle Venne.
Born in Philadelphia, Richard was one of seven children and the only son of the late Clarence J. Venne and Anne C. Hughes.
After graduating from Bishop Egan High School in1967, Richard received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio in 1972. Knowing her for two years, Richard married Johnette in 1976 and settled in Bensalem where they resided until they relocated to Newtown in 2000. During his life, Richard was the owner and operator of Clarence J. Venne Inc. of Bristol from 1968 to 2001. In addition to being an entrepreneur and philanthropist, Richard was a devoted dog owner, avid sports fan, and retained memberships with Torresdale- Frankford and Burlington County Golf Country Clubs.
In addition to his beloved wife Johnette, Richard is survived by his children, John G. Venne and his wife Laura Ford of Philadelphia, Jillian R. Venne of Newtown, and Richard A. Venne, Jr. of Philadelphia. Also survived by his sisters, Carole Houlne and her husband Edward of Warminster, Nancy Venne of Carmel, CA, Patricia Venne of Fort Collins, CO, Margaret Brower of Elverson, PA, Marie Pendergast and her husband Patrick of Malvern, and Joanne Quinn of Ambler.
A devout Roman Catholic, Richard was a communicant of the Church of St. Andrew. Always assuming the best in a person, Richard loved getting to know all people and never spoke ill of anyone. He will be deeply missed by his family and by all who came to know him.

Robert A. Arnone

Robert A. Arnone, of Newtown, PA died Friday, December 10, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 49.
He was the beloved husband of 21 years to Antonella Primus Arnone.
He was the loving son of Mario and Clara Grimaldi Arnone of Philadelphia.
Robert grew up in Philadelphia, and was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Parish where he served as an altar boy mostly at the early morning masses. He attended Father Judge High School, graduating in 1979, and graduated first in his engineering class at Temple University in 1984 with a Master’s Degree in Engineering. He was President of Enser Corporation in Cinnaminson, NJ, which he took over from his father in 2002, receiving numerous small business awards including the Top 20 Small Businesses in New Jersey.
His success in the business world was regularly overshadowed by his commitment to his family. He enjoyed coaching his children’s ice hockey and soccer teams. While he took pleasure in taking his children to professional sporting events including the Phillies and the Phantoms, his lifelong passion for the Philadelphia Flyers was undeniable. A season ticket holder, he spent memorable times with his family and friends at Flyers games, rooting for the orange and black.
Robert’s passion for life, and the love and devotion he gave to his family and friends will always be remembered. For the past four years, Robert organized Team Arnone, raising funds and awareness for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN). He strived for excellence and has instilled a high standard for education in his children.
He loved to travel and explore places including Paris, Bermuda, Punta Cana, Aruba, Riviera Maya with his best friends and travel buddies Gene and Marie, Kim and Mike, Bob and Anna, Tony and Kathy, and Nello and Marianna…but his heart will always be found in his beloved town of Guardia Piemontese, Italy.
In addition to his loving wife and parents, he is survived by his children Domenic, Mario, Isabella, and Stefano Arnone, all of Newtown his sister Carmela Valeno and Chris of Washington Township, NJ, his brother Marco Arnone and Deborah of Huntingdon Valley, his father and mother-in-law, Luigi and Maria Primus, his brothers-in-law, Tano (Angelique), Lou (Andrea) and his sister-in-law, Maria Rosa. He is also survived by his 10 nieces and nephews, 8 godchildren, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends including his extended family in Chicago, Italy and Canada.
The family extends eternal gratitude to Dr. Burtness and Dr. Hoffman and the team of nurses and doctors at Fox Chase Cancer Center, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Philadelphia Affiliate, Monsignor Picard and the entire St. Andrew community, the Holy Ghost Prep family, Dr. John Volpe, Father Sariego, and Tina D’Armiento and Aimee Heim RN, CHPN for their support and devotion.

Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Bucks County in 1965 where he lived with his beloved wife the late Elizabeth L. MacNamara.
