Joan E. Juhas (Hirsch)

May 29th, 2012

Joan E. Hirsch Juhas of Southampton, New Jersey died peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at her son’s home in Langhorne surrounded by her loving family. She was 74.

Joan was the beloved wife of 50 years to James Juhas.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice Mulcahey Hirsch, and sister of the late Jack and Charles Hirsch.

Joan was a former resident of the Kensington section of Philadelphia before moving to Southampton, New Jersey 13 years ago. She was an avid Bingo player and ran the Bingo for over 20 years at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Philadelphia. She enjoyed quality times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joan will be deeply missed by her family and by all who came to know her.

In addition to her husband James, Joan is survived by her loving sons; Timothy J. Juhas and his wife Susan of Langhorne and James J. Juhas and his wife Maureen of Naperville, IL. Joan is also survived by her two brothers, Frank Hirsch and his wife Joanne of Plymouth Meeting and Bob Hirsch and his wife Ann Marie of Philadelphia, her sister, Betty Fox and her husband Joe of Philadelphia and her six cherished grandchildren, Joe, Julie, Kimmy, Tara, Callie and Jamie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, June 1, 2012, from 9:00 am until her Funeral Mass 10:30 am at the Olde Church of St. Andrew, 135 South Sycamore St. Newtown, PA 18940.

Interment will follow in North Cedar Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia.

John G. Jabbour of Chalfont, PA died peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Doylestown Hospital. He was 89.

He was the beloved husband of Rosette Dfouni Jabbour for 59 years.

Born in Lebanon, he was the son of George and Adele Abi Samra Jabbour.

In addition to his beloved wife, John is survived by his four children; Evelyne Jabbour Boustany and her husband, Elie, of Lebanon, Randa Jabbour of Chalfont, PA, Zeina Jabbour Kubarych and her husband, Thomas, of Gaithersburg, MD and George Jabbour of Chalfont, PA. He is also survived by his four loving grandchildren; Halim Barakat, Wael Barakat, Isabelle Jabbour, John Jabbour and one great grandchild, Majd Barakat.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday evening, May 30, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday, May 31, from 9:00 to 10:15 AM at the Joseph A. Dominic F. Gaglio of Doylestown died suddenly on Friday, May 25, 2012, at Doylestown Hospital. He was 1 month old.

Born in Doylestown, he was the beloved son of Christina Gaglio and Jason Kohler.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Gabriella Gaglio, his maternal grandmother, Vicki DeHaven of Doylestown, maternal grandfather Francis Pinko of Scranton, and his paternal grandparents, George and Mary Duffy Kohler of Warminster.

Irene Rose (nee Menetto) Fanning, of Philadelphia, died on May 19, 2012.

Irene was the beloved wife of the late William J. Fanning. She was the dearest mother of Patricia Rose Mooney (late Michael), Margaret Theresa Fanning (Tom), Irene Rose Evans (Gary), Donna Marie Arcidiacono (John) and Deborah Jane Summers (Tommy L). She is also survived by her sister Alice Shaw, her 11 grandchildren, Michael Mooney, Kristianne Thomas, Kathleen Rocchio, Jacqueline Christie, John Maguire, Melissa Chalkias, Danielle Sperber, Nick Summers, Jennifer Arcidiacono, Victoria Evans and Gregory Summers and her 6 great grandchildren, Chris Thomas, Chaeli Rocchio, Ryan Zacniewski, Lorelei Rocchio, William Chalkias and Aisling Rocchio and many nieces and nephews.

John E. Fekete

John E. Fekete of Holland, PA died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Chandler Hall Hospice. He was 95.
He was the beloved husband of the late Olga Karpiak Fekete.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John and Katherine Leitheim Fekete.
Mr. Fekete was proud to have been a veteran of the Army who served during World War II as a mechanic in the motorpool. Prior to his enlistment, John worked as a hosiery knitter at Apex Company. After his time in the Army, he went to work with the Philadelphia Board of Education as an electrician in the maintence department. With in about 10 years, John transferred to the position of a non-teaching assistant to the principal. During his tenure as a non-teaching assistant, John worked at Jay Cooke Junior High School and then at Kensington High School for Girls. Since his retirement in 1978, John enjoyed spending time caring for his garden and lawn and also creating unforgettable family memories with his children and grandchildren, and he also loved singing, walking his dog in Penny Pack Park, or even just watching the Phillies. John will be sorely missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know and love him.
He is survived by his two loving children John A. Fekete and his wife Linda of Holland and Eileen K. Mayall and her husband Russell of Bensalem, PA. He is also survived by his brother Gaza Fekete, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren

Mary E. Draganescu (Korabik)

Mary E. Draganescu of Philadelphia died on May 23, 2012, at Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington. She was 81.

She was the beloved wife of the late John Draganescu.

Born in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline Starinec Korabik. Mary and her family were parishioners of St. Agnes Parish, and she and her sons attended St. Agnes School. She subsequently attended John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School.

Mary was very devoted to her family, and she proudly worked for over twenty-five years at Smith Kline & French in Philadelphia where she made many beloved life-long friends. Along with her husband, John, she was a passionate Phillies fan, and they rarely missed watching a Phillies game for over three decades.

She is survived by her loving children John M. and Diane M. Draganescu of Wayne, and Mark A. and Alice J. Draganescu of Chalfont, and dearest grandmother of Heather Alane, Mark Sebastian, Jacqueline Olivia, and Sara Marie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday evening, May 29, from 7-9pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (Route 202 & Sandy Ridge Rd.) Tara Jane Eshelman

Tara Jane Eshelman went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. She passed away at home surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness.

She was born and raised in Bucks County Pennsylvania where she attended Council Rock High School. She graduated from Penn State University in 1984 and Frostburg State College in 1986. She married Jon Eshelman in 1986 and settled in Westminster, Massachusetts in 1994 when Jon left military service. She began teaching English and literature in 2001 at the First Assembly Christian Academy in Worcestor, MA and in 2007 she started teaching at Bethany Christian Academy in Mendon, MA. Her students were one of her greatest passions and she will be missed by so many who she touched.

She is survived by her husband and their three children, Conor, Lauren and Kyle, her father John Boyle of Holland Pennsylvania, her brother Michael Boyle of Holland and her sister Kathi Dwyer of Fleetwood, Pennsylvania as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Tara’s life at a memorial service at Heritage Bible Chapel in Princeton, Massachusetts at 6:30pm on Thursday, May 31, 2012.

William J. De Rosa

William J. De Rosa of Newtown died peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Chandler Hall Hospice with his wife at his side. He was 70.

Born in New York, NY, he was the beloved husband of 28 years to Nina Mariotti De Rosa. He was the son of the late William J. and Lillian Draghi De Rosa.

Bill was a resident of Newtown for the past 22 years and a communicant of the Church of St. Andrew. He retired in 2004 after a very successful career in the printing profession. Bill enjoyed the special times that he spent at the beach with his family, especially during the summer months. He will be sadly missed by his devoted and loving family.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children and their spouses; Gina Corrado and her husband Anthony, Joseph De Rosa and his wife Deanine, Alaina and Ali De Rosa , his brother, Thomas De Rosa and his 4 special grandchildren; Joseph, Chelsea, Jared and Jacqueline.

Bill’s family will receive condolences on Friday, May 25, 2012, from 10:00 am until his Funeral Mass 11:00 am at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown, PA 18940.

Catherine M. Hickey of Langhorne, PA died peacefully on May 22, 2012 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. She was 87.

Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Mabel V. Downing Hickey and sister of the late Joseph and John Hickey, Mabel Anderson, and Rita Wiechardt.

Catherine is survived by her 2 Beloved sisters Rose Mary T. Manning of Penns Park, PA, and Josephine C. Wieland of Langhorne, PA. She is also survived by her many loving and devoted nieces and nephews.

Eugene G. Cusick

Reverend Eugene G. Cusick, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Bede the Venerable Parish, Holland, died at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Darby, on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

Father Cusick was born on September 22, 1936, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Joseph P. Cusick and the late Alice L. Gordon. Father Cusick attended Pennypacker Public School, Philadelphia, Saint Athanasius Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Northeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Cusick was ordained on May 16, 1964, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Cusick served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Springfield, and Saint Helena Parish, Center Square. He also served on the Faculty at Cardinal O’Hara High School, Springfield, and as Principal at Bishop Shanahan High School, Downingtown. In 1993, Father Cusick was appointed Pastor at Saint Bede the Venerable Parish, Holland, and was named Pastor Emeritus in 2005. While he was Pastor of St. Bede’s he was instrumental in building the St. Katharine Drexel Center and Perpetual Adoration Chapel as well as the school gymnasium, computer labs and school offices.

Father Cusick is survived by his brothers and sister, Joseph P. Cusick (Sheila), Mary C. Boland (Robert), Thomas J. Cusick (Ann Marie) and Gerald J. Cusick (Marie), 15 nieces and nephews, 42 grand nieces and nephews and 1 great grand niece.

The Transfer of his body will be held at Saint Bede the Venerable Church, Holland, on Friday, May 25, 2012, at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing, until a parish Mass that will be celebrated at 7:00 PM. On Saturday a viewing will be held from 9:00am until Family Words of Remembrance at 10:35am. A Concelebrated Funeral Mass with Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald, Auxiliary Bishop as principal celebrant will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Rev. Msgr. John Marine, Rev. Thomas Furey, Rev. Gary Pacitti, Rev. Leonard Lewandowski, and the Rev. Msgr. Philip Cribben will be the homilist.

Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory maybe made to St. Katharine Drexel Regional Catholic School, 1071 Holland Rd. Holland PA 18966
