Louis Giacomelli

November 26th, 2012

Louis Giacomelli, of New Britain, PA died on Monday, November 26, 2012, at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 81.

He was the beloved husband of 35 years to the late Irmtraud “Trudy” Giacomelli.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Saverio and Vittoria Roman Giacomelli.

Louis was a devoted American and proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart for his efforts. He returned home and continued his civil service, this time as a policeman, for the Philadelphia Police department where he faithfully served for over 20 years.
His kindness and generosity as a friend, mentor and community leader will always be remembered and appreciated by those who knew him.

He is survived by his nephew Rich Delgato and his wife Kim of New Britain and their 5 children, Lisa, Richie, Jimmy, Joey, and Geena.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday, November 30, 2012 from 9:00 am until his Funeral Service 10:00 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 241 East Butler Ave. (Route 202 & Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901. His interment with military honors will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

Janice Murphy (Patton)

November 26th, 2012

Janice P. Murphy of Newtown died peacefully Monday, November 26, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. She was 80.

Born in Washington, DC, Janice was the beloved wife of the late James F. Murphy and daughter of the late John F. and Lillian E. Hobbs Patton and mother of the late Eileen Louise Murphy Churn and sister of the late Jack Patton.

Janice has been a resident of Newtown since 1978 and was the office manager for over 30 years for her late husband’s company, James F. Murphy Engineers, Inc. Janice was a faithful and active member of the Washington Crossing United Methodist Church, Washington Crossing. Her family came first and she always made their home a warm and wonderful place. She greatly enjoyed cooking and baking and family trips to the beach.

Janice is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer M. Carmignani and her husband, Robert, of Newtown, her 2 sisters, Patricia Miller of Damascus, MD and Joan Martin of Naples, FL and her sister-in-law, Wilma Patton of Lakeland, FL. She is also survived by her three loving grandchildren, Sara Roberts, James Churn and Jack Carmignani and one great granddaughter, Kimberly Roberts.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd.(at Holland Rd.), Richboro and to her Funeral Service on Friday 10:00 am at Washington Crossing United Methodist Church, Washing Crossing Rd., Washington Crossing, PA 18977. Interment will take place at Newtown Cemetery, Newtown.

Lucille Calabree (DiSante)

November 26th, 2012

Lucille Calabree of Newtown, formerly of Holland, died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at Pickering Manor Home, Newtown. She was 92.

Born in Philadelphia, Lucille was the beloved wife of the late Leonard B. and dearest daughter of the late Ercole and Guilia Mannella DiSante.

Lucille was a resident of Holland for 29 years before moving to Newtown two years ago. Lucille, as she was known to family and friends, worked for many years as a sale associate for Lit Brothers and Gimbels Department stores in Philadelphia.

She had a magic touch with a needle and thread. Her talent was fabulous, whether sewing or cooking, and she loved to do both.

Lucille was a communicant of St. Bede the Venerable Church and was active with the Young at Heart Club.

Lucille is survived by her devoted children, Julia R. Manieri and her husband, Victor and Leonard A. Calabree and his wife, Joan. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jennifer (Thomas Fetterolf), Michael Manieri, Elizabeth (Robert Kemmery), Kristin (Terry Royce), Lauren, and six great-grandchildren, Caroline, James, Michaela, Kristian, Ashley and Tyler.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Saturday from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, and to her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18966.

Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

Dolly McCabe (Smith)

November 25th, 2012

Dolly Smith McCabe of Langhorne died peacefully at her home on November 25, 2012.

Dolly was the devoted daughter of the late Hunter M. and Helen L. Bennett Smith, mother of the late John V. McCabe and sister of the late Harold “Bud” Smith.

Born in Doylestown, Dolly was a life long resident of Bucks County, having lived in the Newtown and Langhorne area for the past 60 years. She was a graduate of Yardley High School, Pollack’s School of Business in Trenton and Bucks County Community College. Dolly worked for General Motors Corp. in Trenton for 15 years where she was a purchasing agent.

Dolly was a hard working member of the Pennsylvania Republican Women’s Club, and the Women’s Club of Trenton, NJ. She gave her time and talents to St Mary Medical Center in Langhorne and has received her 40 year pin for her dedicated volunteer service; she also volunteered her time to Lower Bucks Hospital.

In her spare time Dolly enjoyed reading, playing cards and traveling with family and friends, she will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

Dolly is survived by her son, William H. McCabe, her daughter in law Coleen McCabe, 2 grandchildren Aileen McCabe —Maucher and Karen Hornbeck, she is also survived by 3 great grandchildren; Vivian, Colby and Ashton and a niece Ellen Bauman and a great nephew Michael Bauman.

Dolly’s family will receive condolences on Monday December 10, 2012 from 12 Noon until her Memorial Service 1:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd.(at Holland Rd.) Richboro. Interment will be Private.

Julie was the beloved wife of the late Frank, dearest mother of Jay Jordan, Ted Jordan (Donna), Barry Jordan (Maryann), Jody Jordan and Betsey Jordan also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Michael Ratz

November 24th, 2012

Michael Richard Ratz of Feasterville died peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Richboro Care Center, Richboro. He was 76.

Born in Philadelphia, Michael was the beloved husband of 56 years of Mary Caroline Lockwood Ratz and the son of Helen Kaczmarek Ratz and the late Michael Ratz.

Michael was a resident of Feasterville for the past 29 years and was a parishioner of St. Christopher Church in Somerton. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Philadelphia, and was an automotive transmission specialist and a teacher at Lincoln Technical Institute during the 1960’s. Michael invented the Automatic Transmission Malfunction Simulator, a teaching tool used by AAMCO Transmissions Incorporated, which was featured in the November 1969 issue of Popular Science Magazine. Michael and his family moved to Texas in the early 70’s. He had an automotive transmission shop in Houston, Texas, for about 10 years.

In addition to his beloved wife, Caroline, Michael is survived by his 7 children and their spouses: Carol Anne Bannon and husband George; Michael R. Ratz, Jr. and wife Shawna; John E. Ratz; David B. Ratz; Donna L. Brito and husband Ronald Rodriguez; Steven C. Ratz and fiancé Tracy Everly; and Michelle J. Boyd and husband John. Also surviving are his mother Helen Ratz, sister Sandra H. Bottner and husband Charles, as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Michael’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, November 29, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. until his Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Phila., PA 19116. Interment will be private.

Walter G. Denkowksi

Walter “Walt” George Denkowski, 60, of Zionsville, Pa., passed away on November 22, 2012, in Quakertown.

Walt was born on August 2, 1952 in King of Prussia. He graduated from Upper Merion High School in 1971. He continued his education by earning a bachelor of science in Psychology, graduating from Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. in 1975, where he was also a member of Beta Sigma Lambda fraternity. Many of his brothers have been lifetime friends.

He worked as a key executive at Milliken Valve Company in Bethlehem for 12 years. He had many longtime coworkers and clients who he also considered close friends.
Walt was a hardworking man who enjoyed good conversation and spending time with family and friends. In his spare time, Walt enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and exploring new places and ideas. He will be remembered for his kindness, enthusiasm, sense of adventure, and joy for life, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Walt is survived by his fiancé, Debra Bloss of Zionsville; daughters, Jennifer VanderGast, and her husband Bryan, of Gilbertsville, and Jessica Denkowski of Barto; brother, Mark Denkowski, and his wife Susan of Houston, Tx.; sister, Suzanne Marshall, and her husband Michael of Crisfield, Md.; nieces, Courtney Shirar, Leah Marshall, Alexandra Denkowski, and Kristina Witt; nephews, Michael Marshall, Jr. and William Witt; and his former wife, Donna Denkowski of Gilbertsville; and loving family friend, Andrea Latzko.
He was the son of the late Walter and Natalie Denkowski.

Walter’s family will receive condolences on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (Rt. 202 and Sandy Ridge Rd.) in New Britain.

Interment will follow the service at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery.

Kevin R. Hanisco

Kevin R. Hanisco of Breinigsville formerly of Ivyland died on November 21, 2012. He was 45.

Kevin was born in Lansdale and was the son of Roger J. Hanisco and his step-mother Patricia, dearest father of Alexandra Paige and Joshua Ryan Hanisco; he is also survived by his sister and brother, Kimberly Cressman and Brian Hanisco and his dear friend Tina Krapf.
