Donald McNamara

May 6th, 2015

Donald McNamara of Richboro and formerly of Delaware County, died peacefully surrounded by his family at Brookdale of Northampton in Richboro on Wednesday May 6, 2015. He was 81.

Donald was the beloved husband of the late Charlotte Ganter McNamara and the grandfather of the late Jeffrey Kenny.

Born in Lower Merion Township, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rose McNamara.

Donald was a retiree of U.S. Air who enjoyed traveling to Ireland and many other domestic and international destinations. Above all Donald cherished times spent with close friends and family creating memories that will last for ever in their hearts.

Donald is survived by his loving and devoted children and their spouses; Kevin McNamara and Tammy of Newtown, Timothy McNamara and Monica of Fairless Hills, and Colleen Schwartz and Donald of Feasterville. He is also survived by his 7 loving grandchildren Jason, Jaime, Tim, Jr., Rhiannon, Stephanie, Matthew, and Taylor and 4 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 10:00AM until his Funeral Service 12:00PM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home. 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will be private.

Rev. Mr. José Antonio “Tony” Morales

May 5th, 2015

Rev. Mr. José Antonio “Tony” Morales of Cherry Hill, NJ and formerly a long time resident of Bristol Township passed away on May 5, 2015 with his loving family by his side at Virtua Hospital, Voorhees. He was 83.

José was the loving and devoted husband of 60 years to Gloria Montero Morales.

Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Gabriel and Ruperta Rodriguez Morales.

José spent the beginning of his life in Puerto Rico before moving to the United States in 1954. It was there that he met and married his wife Gloria and together they raised their family in Bristol Township. José worked as a Press Operator for many years for Art Kraft until his retirement and together he and Gloria moved to Florida where they spent about ten years before returning back to the northeast.

José was ordained as a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1981 with the very first class of Hispanic Deacons. He served the majority of his tenure with St. Mark’s Church in Bristol. Dedicated to his faith and his family, he was devoted to working hard to provide a great life for his wife and children based on strong character and work ethic.

Above all else, José will be remembered for his strength of heart and spirit and for his boundless love of his family. His legacy of devotion to his faith and strong moral values will not soon be forgotten. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, José is survived by his children, Gloria “Betsy” Morales Evans and her husband, Carl, of Fairless Hills, José Morales and his wife, Alma, of Diamond Springs CA, Hector “Pete” Morales and his wife, Donna, of Burlington, NJ, Jorge Morales and his wife, Ginny, of Delran, NJ, Melissa Medina and her husband, Hector, of Burlington, NJ, Ivonne Rivera and her husband, Carlos, of Bristol, Deborah Mojica and her husband, Rick, of Bristol and Michael Morales and his partner, Tim, of New Hope. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 8 siblings; and countless extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ramoń and Helo Morales.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday May 11, 2015 from 9:30 AM until 11:15 AM at St Mark Church, 1025 Radcliffe St., Bristol, PA 19007 where his Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 AM. His interment will follow in St. Mark Cemetery, Bristol.

Julie F. Harbison (FitzPatrick)

May 5th, 2015

Julie F. Harbison of Quakertown, PA died peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at LifeQuest Health Care, Quakertown, PA. She was 100 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late Donald S. Harbison Sr.

Born on February 11, 1915 in Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John FitzPatrick and Catherine McGuinness FitzPatrick and grandmother of the late Jeffrey D. Harbison. She was also predeceased by 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

Mrs. Harbison has been a resident of Quakertown for the past 7 years. Formerly she resided in the Doylestown and New Britain area for 30 years. Mrs. Harbison worked for many years in the food services industry and was also a volunteer dietary aide at Doylestown Hospital. In 1982, Mrs. Harbison and her sister, Catherine Walsh, traveled to Ireland where they had the opportunity to meet Aunt Liz and many cousins and family members. This was a momentous event in her life.

Known lovingly by her many grandchildren as “Mi Mi”, she was always ready for the next family gathering, party, or trip to the shore. She loved to read and was an avid reader until the last few years.

She is survived by her three children, Dianne H. Baughman and her husband, Barry, of Perkiomenville, PA, Donald S. Harbison Jr. and his wife, Joanne, of Doylestown, PA and John L. Harbison and his wife, Sharon, of Horseheads, NY. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Fitzpatrick of Hudson, MA, and her 15 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Isidore Church, 2545 West Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. Interment will be held privately.

Helen G. Krouse (McClay)

May 4th, 2015

Helen G. Krouse of Jamison passed away peacefully on May 4, 2015 at Abington Memorial Hospital. She was 91.

She was the beloved wife of 63 years to the late George C. Krouse.

Born in Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Livezey McClay.

A graduate of Woodbury High School in New Jersey, she went on to attend Pierce Business School, later working as a typist for Curtis Publishing Company.

Helen was a member of Neshaminy-Warwick Presbyterian Church and was also active as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She also volunteered at Warwick Elementary School and enjoyed attending Brown Bros. and Clinton Auctions and selling at Rice’s Market.

Helen is survived by her son, Steven Krouse and his wife, Sylvia, of Lakeville, PA, her daughters, Nora Krouse of Warrington and Nancy Amanna of Warminster; her grandchildren, Dann and Matt Krouse, Lara and John Moore of Oregon, and Ian and Larissa Amanna of Oregon.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Green.

Elizabeth Hofstaedter (Baily)

May 3rd, 2015

Elizabeth Baily Hofstaedter of Langhorne, previously of Glenside and Hatboro, died on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at The Brunswick at Attleboro, in Langhorne. She was 89.

Born in Philadelphia, Elizabeth was the wife of the late Joseph Dodson who died in 1991 and the late Gerard F. Hofstaedter who died in 2012. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Carlton and Edith Oland Baily.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Hatboro High School, class of 1943. She lived mainly in Montgomery and Bucks County. She was the owner and founder of the Gift Gallery, a Hallmark Card and Gift Store on Easton Road in Glenside for over 20 years. Elizabeth was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She had fond memories of many summers at the Jersey shore. She will be sadly missed by her loving family.

Elizabeth is survived by her dear children and their spouses Deborah D. Bumford and Alvin, Jr., Stephen A. Dodson and Lynda, Patricia Garland and Robert, Paul G. Hofstaedter and Diana, She is also survived by her 8 dear grandchildren: Brian Garland, Michelle Garland, Steffany McGee (Patrick), Adam Bumford, Emily Hofstaedter, Andraya Hofstaedter, Matthew Hofstaedter and Zoey Dodson.

Nancy R. Schnell (Orth)

May 3rd, 2015

Nancy R. Schnell of Doylestown died peacefully on Sunday May 3, 2015 at Briarleaf Health Care. She was 73.

She was the beloved wife of the late Bruce C. Schnell.

Born in Trenton New Jersey, she was the second youngest of 11 children to the late Lloyd and Jennifer Landolphi Orth.

Nancy was a graduate of Roxboro High School, class of 1959 and immediately began her career as a loan officer for a small company. After many years of hard work she became the Vice President of Operations at American Financial Corporation where she retired from in 2002.

Nancy was a faithful and active member of the New Britain Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served on several committees. She loved animals especially her cats, she enjoyed working in her garden, going to the Jersey Shore to walk the beach. She will be sadly missed by her devoted family and friends. 

Nancy is survived by her 2 caring sons; William E. Schnell and Christopher B. Schnell, 2 brothers Albert and John Orth, 3 sisters; Jean Anderson, Virginia Hays and Alyce Groff. She is also survived by her 2 dear grandchildren; Mary and Joseph Gregg.

Nancy’s family will receive condolences on Saturday May 9, 2015 from 10:00am until her Memorial Service 11:00am at New Britain Baptist Church, E. Butler Ave. at Tamanend Ave. New Britain, PA 18901.  Her interment will be held privately.

Marie F. Dougherty (Fitzmyer)

April 30th, 2015

Marie F. Dougherty of Doylestown passed away with her family by her side on April 30, 2015 at Doylestown Hospital. She was 86.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Fitzmyer.

Marie was a graduate of Little Flower High School. She was employed as a Claims Representative for many years with Prudential Insurance until her retirement.

Marie loved travelling. She travelled abroad extensively and also spent much of her time in Surf City, NJ. Above all else she treasured time with her family, especially her adoring grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her children, James B. Dougherty, Jr. of New York, NY, Anne Marie Wright and her husband, Donald, of Doylestown, Joseph A. Dougherty and his wife, Elizabeth, of Villanova, and Francis G. Dougherty and his wife, Deborah, of New Britain. She also leaves behind her five beloved grandchildren, Francis, Jr., Anthony, Nina, Fitz, and Jack and her brothers, Rev. Joseph A. Fitzmyer, S.J. and Robert J. Fitzmyer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Florence Griffin, and her former husband, James B. Dougherty.

Services and interment were held privately.

Rita Therese Schmitt (George)

April 30th, 2015

Rita Therese (nee George) Schmitt of Bensalem, formerly of Newtown passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at her residence. She was 87.

Born in Pitcairn PA, Rita was the loving wife of the late Harry Joseph Schmitt for sixty years until his death in October 2014. She was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur D. and Catherine Boast George. She was preceded in death by her brothers Adam and Eugene, and her sisters Marian, Ruth and Alice.

Dearest mother of Claudia Hensel (Kevin), Michael H. Schmitt (Mary Ann), Gregory Schmitt (Reggie), sister of Edgar George, she is also survived by six cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Matthew, Jennifer, Connor, Aidan, and Alana.

Rita was a longtime resident of Bucks County and a dedicated teacher and administrator for the Bensalem School District. Before moving to Bensalem, Rita taught at various schools in Western PA. After retirement, she taught Latin at Council Rock High School part-time. She received her Bachelor’s Degree, and was valedictorian, at Seton Hill College in Greensburg. She later earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Doctorate from Temple University.

Rita always enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, as well as fine dining and the arts. After her retirement in 1993, she concentrated on mentoring her grandchildren and traveling the world with Joe, visiting every continent except Antarctica. Although they hosted many social events for their family and friends over the years, their favorite annual event was gathering the family for an elegant Christmas dinner. Perhaps Rita’s most loving and lasting gifts are the many photo albums, sonnets, journals, pearls of wisdom and other writings she created documenting family events and her travels.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road) Richboro and on Thursday at the Church of Saint Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am. Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Josephine F. Neary (Farina)

Josephine F. Neary, 90, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 29th after a brief illness. Josephine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born and lived most of her life in the Hartford CT area until she recently relocated to Langhorne, PA to live near her daughter and son in-law. She graduated from Bulkeley High School in Hartford. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years, initially for Pratt and Whitney and later for H. R. Delasco.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Lucia (Lucy) Farina, two sisters, Mary Cifalu and Anna Budaj, and four brothers, Carmelo, Joseph, Paul, and Michael Farina. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Francis C. Neary, son Francis Jr. (wife Alice), daughter Luanne Socha (husband Richard), and son Andrew (wife Anne). Josephine was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Elizabeth Yavenditti, Kevin Neary, Michael Socha, Andrea Quinn, Matthew Neary, and Brendan Neary, and six great grandchildren, Anna Katherine and William Yavenditti, Nathan and Max Quinn, Desmond Sullivan Neary, and Amelia Socha. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Vera Hutton (Gualberti)

Vera Hutton of Warrington, PA died on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. She was 83.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph (Jack) Hutton.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carmela Laurelli Gualberti.

Mrs. Hutton was a resident of Warrington for the past 7 years and formerly lived in Warminster for 40 years. She began her working career as an administrative assistant for the Dean of Women at Temple University. It was there where she met her husband whom she married in l959. Together they volunteered and spent a lifetime of service and dedication to Temple University where they were very active in the Owl Club.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed golfing, taking trips to Hilton Head, SC and was an avid fan of Temple’s basketball and football teams.

She will be sadly missed as a loving mother and grandmother who always enjoyed the special times spent with her family.

She is survived by her two children, Ellen Hutton and her husband, Fernando Mendez, of Philadelphia and Gary Hutton and his wife, Christine, of Southampton, PA. She is also survived by her two loving grandsons, Evan and Miles Hutton.
