Bruce Weaymans Panfil

December 5th, 2015

12/24/1960 – 12/05/2015

On the evening of December 5, 2015, Bruce Weaymans Panfil passed away at his home in Holland PA, surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous two year battle with pancreatic cancer.   Bruce died just short of his 55th birthday – leaving this world by the glow of the Christmas tree, just as he came into it on December 24, 1960.

Bruce was the second son of four children born to Roger S. Panfil Sr. and Judith Jane Weaymans. Bruce was raised in Huntingdon Valley, PA and graduated from Lower Moreland High School in 1978. After high school, he went on to join his older brother Roger at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) where they both pledged Theta Chi Fraternity.   Later his younger brother David would also head to IUP and extend the Panfil legacy at Theta Chi.

In 1982, Bruce graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Service Management and headed to Washington D.C. where he had great success as a Manager at ARA Food Services, quickly rising to a District Manager position.

Following the death of his father in 1986, however, Bruce left the D.C. area and returned to Huntingdon Valley to help run the family business, Panfil Insurance Agency, with his younger brother David.

Bruce retrained himself for the Insurance business, graduating with the 1987 class of The Travelers Commercial Lines School for Agents.  Later in 1987, he completed the Basic School of Property and Casualty Insurance at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.

Eventually, Bruce returned to the Food Service industry working to build the now very successful KISS Food Services in Philadelphia, PA, founded by his long-time friend and high school alum, Larry Cohen.

During this time Bruce continued to widen his skills, securing his CFP (Chartered Financial Consultant) designation in 2001 from The American College in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania.  He would later add the Series 6 (qualification to sell mutual funds, variable annuities and insurance premiums) designation and others to his name.

In 2011, Bruce again looked to support his family.  He joined and helped launch RDC Design Group beside his older brother Roger and his nephews Ryan and Jordan, where he worked until his death as an outstanding Technical Recruiter.  But personnel recruiting was just one of Bruce’s talents.  Bruce leveraged the extensive network of friends and business associates he had built over the years and was responsible for developing a number of RDC’s partnerships and clients. From helping to run the company’s annual marketing Summit to his humor and up-beat attitude in the office, Bruce contributed to RDC in so many ways.

Although Bruce was known for his movie star good looks and incredible style, it was his generous and loving personality that leaves him a legacy of friendship and love. Anyone he ever met, he considered a friend.  Always involved in family activities and interested in everyone’s life, he watched out and cared for his sister, his brothers, and his loving partner Sharon Venner, as well as, all his nephews and friends.

Interests for Bruce included Harley-Davidson motorcycles, all of the Philadelphia sports teams, his nephews’ band EverLit (Ryan & Jordan), and reclining with his friends in beautiful New Hope, PA.  Two little known facts were recently discovered: Bruce received his ROTC Military Training Certificate in 1979, and achieved a Certificate of Mixology bartending from the Philadelphia School of Bartending in 1989.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Roger S. Panfil and Judith W. Panfil. Bruce is survived by his loving brothers Roger S. Panfil Jr., David H. Panfil and his adoring sister Debbie Panfil Pearl. His nephews Ryan Panfil, Jordan Panfil, Justin Panfil, Ethan Panfil, Reese Panfil, Hunter Pearl and Keegan Pearl, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, also survive him.  In addition, he is survived by his devoted and loving girl friend, Sharon Venner, who cared for him so well during his last two difficult years.

The Panfil family would like to thank all the family and friends that filled Bruce’s life with so much happiness.  He truly loved each and every one of you.  Know that he is still watching out for you from above.

Funeral Services for our dear brother and eternal friend, Bruce Weaymans Panfil, will be held Friday December 11, 2015 at Northampton Presbyterian Church, 539 Buck Road, Holland, PA 18966.  Please note that due to anticipated overwhelming support for Bruce, this is a change in venue.

Family and friends will be received from 10:00—11:30 AM, followed by a Religious Service.  After the Service, a motorcycle brigade will depart and lead Bruce to his internment at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.  If you are a motorcycle rider and are interested in escorting Bruce to his burial site, please feel free to join us.

In lieu of sending flowers, Bruce would prefer that donations be made to his fundraising site https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/battle-for-bruce-/155683.  Funds donated to the Battle for Bruce site will be directed to Bruce’s chosen cause, the Pancreas Center, Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center, 161 Fort Washington Ave, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10032.  This in hope that research will cure this horrible disease.
