I am so sad to hear about Mr. Fluri's passing. He is one of the teachers that I will always remember from junior high. There were so many things "we don't appreciate as kids as much as we do as adults" as Jen Donaldson Mueller said below. Mr. Fluri had high expectations for his students and the humor to pull them off. I also had the honor to know Mr. Fluri's brother and nephew through tutoring. My heart goes out to all of their family during this difficult time.

David Fluri was an outstanding teacher and I have so many fond memories of his classes. I remember playing Star Trek trivia with him, the day he brought his hawk to school, and the challenges he gave us in class to make us better and not just coast along. He went above and beyond as a teacher, which we don't appreciate as kids as much as we do as adults. I send his family my heartfelt condolences. He made a great difference in my life and I will never forget him.
