Dear Anne,

The loss of a husband is such a profound loss we can only imagine your grief. Not only was Bob a good man with a generous heart, he was a faithful servant to the Lord and I know he held his faith close. Take comfort that he is now with his Savior and I just know he's "rippin' up those fairways."

I will forever remember his great wit and how he made me smile even when I didn't necessarily want to. His big smile always made life a little easier to take and for that, I'll always be grateful. Even now, after the shock is beginning to wear off, I see his smile in my mind's eye and it forces me to smile, even though I'm sad he's not with us. I can still hear his laughter when he "thought" he actually beat me in the railroad game. Hmmm.....maybe I'll give him that one. Second thought, nah.

So many memories I'm so fortunate to have of him over the last 15 years. Never thought he'd warm up to little Ms Molly, but it didn't take long for the ole' softy in him to surface. I think it was there all the time, it just took four legs, two sad eyes and a wagging tail for the rest of us to see it. I know she'll miss her daddy, won't we all. But Anne, it is times like this that our faith is put to the test. We know that we must accept his passing and give thanks for the wonderful life he lived. He gave much to this world and his legacy will live on through his children, his career and through so many memories as I believe it really will keep him alive in our hearts. There will come a day when your tears are replaced with a smile at just the thought of him. I hope those days come soon for you.

On a final note, I know your faith will guide you, your friends will comfort you and your God will bring you strength and peace in the coming days. Turn to prayer and he will raise you up like eagle's wings. I hope that knowing that others share in your grief will bring you some consolation and will help soften the landing of sorrow. Our spiritual faith teaches us that those that mourn shall be comforted. I am certain that this is true and that you will receive the special blessings that you so richly deserve.

Stay strong my friend, and when you can't, pick up the phone and call me. Until we see each other soon, to you and Bob's children, grandchildren and friends, our sincerest condolences.

Love from us,

Rick and Ruth Bethem
