The last time I was in Doug's, was on Saturday the 14th. Doug Jr. mentioned the condition of Doug Sr. I was stunned and saddened, but did not know the severity of Doug Sr.'s illness. I haven't been back to Doug's shop since, and as I drove by the shop, today, I saw the Black sash on the barber pole. I must not have seen it or it must have been night time, because this is the first time I noticed it, prompting me to immediately go home and look it up online. I had no idea Doug Sr. had passed the only day after we spoke in the shop. I feel awful for not knowing. The Perry family, Doug Sr & Jr, have been in our lives since we moved to Chalfont in 1993. My two (then ) small children (Kyle and Haley -Haley would just watch) would go to get their haircuts, and Doug Sr. was always quick with hello's, good natured kidding, and made you feel 100% welcome. It was, and still is, a good time at Doug's. And Doug Sr. was a big reason we went to Doug's and still do, 20 years later. You feel at home and comfortable, and always were in for some good talk and friendliness. The Perry family are the epitome of people you just "want to know" and are glad you do. We will tremendously miss Doug Sr's presence at the shop. A really great guy, who EVERYBODY loved and enjoyed his company, which was evident by the non-stop flow of friends he had in the shop. My sincere condolences to you all. - Jerry Scullion.

"Stunned and deeply saddened" is the way the Wolfinger's took the news from my husband Dave at the dinner table as he returned from his first haircut of the new year. We will always remember Davey's first haircut, sitting on his fathers lap, as Doug's Barbershop worked its magic! I will never forget the family memories that Doug and his crew created for us...sending Davey for his first time "alone" on his bike then sending him RIGHT BACK with a NOTE telling Doug not to listen to Davey and his "trim" but his mom's "cut". And don't forget Big Doug's special "back room" and how we use to kid that there was probably a card game going on in there! We can't imagine going into Doug's and NOT seeing him suited up in his barber's smock standing outside his "special" room waiting for whoever was NEXT waiting for him....and that is just the way the Wolfinger's will remember him!

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Perry was a very kind gentleman and I was shocked by the news of his passing. I will be in prayer for your family. How wonderful it is to know how well thought of he was and his memory will be in the hearts of those people that were lucky enough to know him. God Bless.
