Teresa & Family -
My deepest condolences for the loss of young Derek:( It's taken me a while to process his passing and I'm sorry for not having made the trip to the Philly area to be with your family. With Owen and Derek, just being separated by a couple of years, I cannot imagine the sorrow that fills every family members heart. He was truly special and so full of energy and life that the Good Lord will be certain to give him an Ambassador of Good Will position in Heaven:) It seemed like it was just yesterday when he was running around in a Knight costume(Totally under-dressed.... I might add as it was like 13 degrees out with wind and snow) at his cousin Andrews, Hoban football game. He didn't care because he was young and tough or at least that is what he wanted us to believe. I will miss his smiling face and laughter. He could be a little reckless and fearless, but I always felt that he had a strong desire to " PLEASE "
Though I was not there to see him develop into a young man .... I can see in the photo montage, what I saw many years ago....... He wanted to make people happy and I just love the pic of him dancing with red shirt on in front of a group of people. He had a smile that made people smile back. ** It sucks that he's gone as I'm tearing up thinking about his loss while I'm typing.
I'll see him on the other side:) God Bless you and your family
