I just learned of Dons passing. I had known him from his early days at Witco. I will miss his warmth and expertise in all matters of work and life. Rest in peace my friend. You will not be forgotten. My warmest to all his family. Bernie Zimmerman

Our sincere condolences to Rita and the entire Macron family for the loss of a true gentleman, friend and neighbor. I so enjoyed Don's company and conversation at our neighborly lunches together that ended all too quickly. Don's wit and intelligence was always appreciated and enjoyed. I was fortunate to have known such a gentle man.

My wife Barbara and I offer our most sincere condolences to Rita and the whole Macron family. They have lost a wonderful and caring husband, father, grandfather and for all who knew him friend.
I had the pleasure of having Don a colleague, contemporary, and friend at Witco for over 25 years. When we first met at Witco and talked about our childhood, we found out that we both went to PS102 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and were probably in the same fourth grade class since we were the same age and both our last names began with "M". Over the years, along with business issues, we reminisced about a lot of "kid details" -where the closest candy store was, about the not so nice Principal Mr.Burke, the movie house on 3rd Avenue, and so on...
Don knew his business and was a terrific person professionally, a great supporter of his salespeople, and seemed to always have a "cool" aura about him even when things at work got complicated in the 1990's.
He also was one of the few co-workers who visited me at the hospital in the summer of 1981 when I was there for over 6 weeks- that was Don!
He was, in Yiddish, a perfect and true Mensch!
