I am sorry to hear about Mrs. Hahn. I am the daughter of Bud and Emma Hafner that live directly opposite her former home in Southampton. I grew up knowing Mr. and Mrs.Hahn. You could not ask for nicer people or better neighbors. My mom went to the same high school as Mrs. Hahn and their parents knew each other so there is some history there prior to living in Southampton. My mom and dad will sorely miss her. They would talk over the phone and visit her after she went to Harleysville.
I'll never forget Mr.Hahn ... I can see him like it was yesterday, riding his lawn mower cutting the grass acorss the street from us with Lady in her pen. He always waved and had something nice to say. I could never forget their generosity. There would be a knock on the door, and sure enough there was a pile of cake boxes being given to us. Hahn's Bakery had the BEST baked goods! They were always very generous. After I married and moved, I had a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth. Whenever I came to visit my parents, we'd walk across the street to see Mrs. Hahn if she was up for visitors. She loved children and automatically made Sarah feel special and loved. Sarah loved her too. She was always very nice to Sarah.
My only regret is that Sarah wasn't able to play her harp for her. It was all arranged just before Mrs. Hahn went to Harylesville. Mrs. Hahn didn't feel well and for other reasons it was not rescheduled. I heard that Mrs.Hahn loved Edelweiss and a family member sang and played it on the guitar for her at the funeral. Sarah would have loved to have played that on her harp for her too. That is one of our favorites too!
One thing I know for sure, we will miss her and we consider it a privilege to have known both Mr. and Mrs. Hahn. They are exceptional people and remain in our hearts. We will not forget them. I have no doubt that Mr. Hahn is overjoyed to see Mrs.Hahn and other loved ones in heaven. I have no doubt they are both there. Both were wonderful Christians that loved their family and enjoyed life. That is a consolation for a Christian, knowing that you will see them again and be with them in eternity. I pray that thought helps the Hahn family cope with Mrs.Hahn not being with us on this earth. Speaking of family, I don't think I know of a finer son than George. They were so proud of him and loved him. Both his parents thought very highly of him and loved him. They loved his children and grandchildren. When we'd stop over to visit she would show us pictures of his children and grandchildren. She truly loved them and was very proud of them. Her face would light up when she spoke of them.
I sincerely hope that knowing both are together in heaven helps and gives you something to look forward to. Eternity is a long time. I believe we are living in prophetic times ... our reunion with loved ones may be sooner than we think. Only God knows when Thessalonians 4:17 will happen. So, till then, keep the faith and know that they love you from afar and so does God.
