Condolences for
Samuel C. Long

Being new to the neighborhood, I only knew Sam for a short time. Sam was a nice man and a good neighbor. His dedication to his property and his strong work ethic reminded me of my own father, Ed McBride. Like Sam, my father also was not capable of sitting still for very long and coincidentally he was also a teamster.

I will always remember Sam as a great all-american type of guy. He loved his wife Grace and family and he also loved the game of soccer where he really excelled at Northeast Public High School, then joined the Navy during the Korean war. When he returned home he again played soccer as a professional and later in the amateur levels in and around the Philadelphia area where he played until his mid 40's. God Bless Sam and the entire Long family.

Sam will be remembered by me and my family. I will miss seeing him take his daily walks around the neighborhood with his dog. He was very fond of his dog and I believe she lived well beyond her lifespan to be a companion to Sam during his last years.
