Condolences for
Barbara Lynn Severs (Shaw)

Friday, April 10th | Comment by: Chris Amazeen

The first time we met, Barb and I didn't hit it off. As all of us reading this will know, the fault was entirely mine. A week later, I couldn't remember, or want to imagine, life without her. There is simply no way not to like Barb, not to adore Barb. None of us has ever known a soul who so easily makes others feel welcome, cared about, and cared for. Whether we had known her all our lives or had just met, it made no difference. Once we entered Barb's sphere, we became "hers". In a world that can seem so cynical and so centered around winning at all cost, Barb showed us what real humanity can and should be.

That essence shone through in everything she did, even - maybe especially - at the very end. in what would prove to be our last "conversation", she sent me this text: "Hearing your voice always puts a smile on my face". So absolutely Barb, deflecting my feeble attempts to console, and in the process, finding a way to make me smile, lift me up, ease my burden.

I am not a religious man, but today, I know there is a Heaven. I know this because Heaven, in its most glorious form, is the only possible place Barb could now be.

Our deepest sympathy along with our loving thoughts and prayer. We will miss Barbara's contagious smile and cheerful wave hello ever time we arrive at Scrubblie Pines. She was thoughtful, caring and tenacious. Barbara's strength was truly inspiring. God bless.

We are so very sorry for Barb's passing. She was an incredibly strong, caring and attentive woman whom you just wanted to be around. You always felt loved each time you were in her presence and her love for her family was so obvious. Her outlook on everything was always positive and she was always concerned about the well-being of others and put the needs of others above her own needs. We will miss her terribly, but I know there is a very special place in heaven for her and that we will all be together again with Barb someday. Les, Kathy, Kim, Sherri, Tammy and family- you are in our thoughts and prayers every day.
