Your dad was my teacher at Klinger Jr. High School from 1965-1966 and my guidance counselor at Wm Tennent High School from 1967-1971. He was one of my favorite teachers and always was very supportive of me. I could tell he really believed in my abilities, which, in those impressionable years, really means a lot to a kid!
I will always remember his class up in the balcony (overlooking the auditorium) at Klinger. In those days, the schools were crowded, and that was the only room left for our small class of accelerated kids. We had to memorize the poem "The Daffodils" by Wm Wordsworth and recite it in front of the class. (Of course, looking upward into the seats, so you felt like you were on stage) I remember that poem to this day, and have always felt grateful to Mr. Nolan for instilling in me a love of poetry. We studied "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost, which remains my favorite.
In high school, he helped me pick a college and continued to make me feel like I was a special student and could do anything.
I just wanted his family to know how he made a difference in my life. My condelences to all of you. His memory lives on!!!
