John P. McGinty, Sr. of Holland (formerly of Buckingham Springs) died peacefully on Thursday May 31, 2012. He was 94.

Born in Philadelphia he was the beloved husband of 64 years to Alma M. Berry McGinty, he was the devoted son of the late Patrick and Bridget McCrudden McGinty, father of the late Maureen A. Marx and Francis McGinty and grandfather of the late Francis J. Marx V, and brother of the late Edmond and Francis McGinty.

In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by his caring children and their spouses, John McGinty, Jr., Michael McGinty and his wife Denise, James McGinty, Joseph McGinty and his wife Joan, Rick McGinty and his wife Betty, Eileen Pompe and her husband Andy, Katie McGinty and her husband Karl Hausker, Colleen Maguire and her husband Tim, his daughter-in-law Molly McGinty and son-in-law Francis J. Marx IV. He is also survived by his 24 loving grandchildren.

John was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School, class of 1936. John had an honorable and dedicated career as a Sergeant in Philadelphia Police Department. After his retirement John was instrumental in starting the PATCO High Speed Transportation Police Department where he served as Captain.

John's passions in life were his wife, his children and his faith. He was proud of his Irish heritage and never sat still when Irish music was playing. John was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Richboro, until he moved to Twining Village in Holland 5 year’s ago. He had a green thumb and his garden was bountiful. John will be remembered for his quick wit and charming way and will be sadly missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday June 4, from 9:00am until his Funeral Mass at 11:00am at St. Bede the Venerable Church 1071 Holland Rd. Holland. Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Holy Redeemer Hospice 12265 Townsend Rd. Philadelphia, PA 19154.
